    摘要: In this invention, we disclose methods for enabling ad hoc cellular base station functionality within a user equipment when the connection quality between a base station and the user equipment is limited or nonexistent. These methods include measuring a connection quality between a user equipment and its serving base station. If the connection quality is below a threshold, the user equipment can enable its internal ad hoc cellular base station functionality. This is done by running a software within the user equipment that (a) checks the connection quality periodically, and (b) enables ad hoc cellular base station functionality of the connection threshold dips below a certain value. In one embodiment, that threshold could be the same threshold value that a user equipment would use if it were making a decision to handoff to another base station based on poor connection quality.

    摘要: A user equipment device (UE) reduces receive beam selection time. An antenna array forms receive beams to receive synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) transmitted by a base station (BS). Each SSB comprises OFDM symbols. Each SSB includes a BS-assigned index. The receive beams are switched in time such that, for each SSB, two or more of the receive beams are used to receive corresponding two or more mutually exclusive sets each having at least one but less than all of the OFDM symbols of the SSB. A processor is programmed to, for each receive beam/SSB index pair, measure a signal quality based on the at least one but less than all of the OFDM symbols of the indexed SSB received by the receive beam of the pair. The processor uses the measured signal qualities to select one of the receive beams to use to receive subsequent communications from the BS.

The at least one processor may be configured to control the electronic device to: identify a first network connection between the electronic device and a first external electronic device using the communication circuit. In response to the identification of the first network connection, the electronic device may identify a second external electronic device. In response to the identification of the second external electronic device, the at least one processor may display a UI for connecting the first external electronic device and the second external electronic device on the display. In response to an identification of an input on the UI, the at least electronic device may transmit, to the second external electronic device, information at least partially based on the first network connection and usable for establishing a second network connection between the first external electronic device and the second external electronic device.
