摘要: A method is directed to determining a thrombosis function and includes flowing a fluid sample over a surface having a fixed endothelial cell monolayer. The method further includes stimulating the fixed endothelial cell monolayer to induce formation of a clot, the clot being formed via interaction between the fixed endothelial cell monolayer and the fluid sample. In response to the clot formation, the method further includes determining a thrombosis function associated with the fluid sample and the fixed endothelial cell monolayer.

摘要: A disposable cartridge includes parallel first and second preparation units. An analysis unit may be coupled to both the first preparation unit and the second preparation unit. The analysis unit has a compartment that receives the contents of the at least one pressable chamber of the first preparation unit and the contents of the at least one pressable chamber of the second preparation unit. Upon opening the at least one frangible seal of the first preparation unit, the contents of the at least one pressable chamber of the first preparation unit flows into the compartment of the analysis unit. Further, upon opening the at least one frangible seal of the second preparation unit, the contents of the at least one pressable chamber of the second preparation unit flows into the compartment of the analysis unit.

摘要: The invention features methods and compositions for assessing risk, particularly immediate risk, of thrombotic events in patients with suspected or known vascular disease, and more particularly to assessing risk of thrombotic events in patients with coronary artery disease, particularly acute myocardial infarction, stroke, unstable angina, stable angina, or restenosis. Risk of thrombosis can be assessed by analysis of platelet reactivity and/or velocity of thrombin or fibrin formation, and determining whether the patient has a score associated above a risk threshold value. In other embodiments, risk of thrombosis in a patient is evaluated in the context of a profile generated from values obtained from one or more assays that evaluate various factors associated with thrombosis and/or atherosclerosis.
