Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for treating autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or ASD-like symptom, particularly by administering a zinc ion source and/or a serine component e.g. D-serine or its precursor/analogue, optionally in combination with a mixture of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs). The present invention also relates to a combination, kit or composition for performing the method for treatment as described herein. Further described is use of a zinc ion source and/or a serine component and optional BCAAs for manufacturing a medicament for treating a symptom or disease characteristics associated with ASD or ASD-associated disorder or as a food supplement for ameliorating relevant symptoms in a subject in need thereof. The present invention further provides an animal model for autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) with deficient CTTNBP2 gene, and a method for identifying an ingredient effective in the treatment of ASD by using such animal model.

Abstract: Glycosphingolipids (GSLs) bearing α-glucose (α-Glc) that preferentially stimulate human invariant NKT (iNKT) cells are provided. GSLs with α-glucose (α-Glc) that exhibit stronger induction in humans (but weaker in mice) of cytokines and chemokines and expansion and/or activation of immune cells than those with α-galactose (α-Gal) are disclosed. GSLs bearing α-glucose (α-Glc) and derivatives of α-Glc with F at the 4 and/or 6 positions are provided. Methods for iNKT-independent induction of chemokines by the GSL with α-Glc and derivatives thereof are disclosed. Methods for immune stimulation in humans using GSLs with α-Glc and derivatives thereof are provided.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a biomolecule comprising a synthetic peptide for targeting thrombus, a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same, and uses thereof in the treatment of thromboembolism-related diseases. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the synthetic peptide having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, 2, or 3 exhibits a binding affinity and specificity to thrombus. Thus, the synthetic peptide may serve as a targeting element for delivering a therapeutic agent (e.g., an anticoagulant agent or a thrombolytic agent) to the thrombus thereby improving the therapeutic safety and efficacy of the therapeutic agent.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing male sterile plant, a mutated nucleotide molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence of the transcription factor bHLH142 and an inserted T-DNA segment, and a novel transformed plant cell and a male-sterile mutant plant comprising the mutated nucleotide molecule, in which the transcription factor bHLH142 is not expressed. The present invention also relates to a novel reversible male sterile transgenic plant, wherein the transcription factor bHLH142 is overexpressed, and its preparation method. The bHLH gene is tissue specifically expresses in the anther and it plays a pivotal role in pollen development. Both the male sterile and reversible male sterile transgenic plants showed a completely male sterile phenotype, but the fertility of the reversible male sterile transgenic plant can be restored under low temperature.
