    Abstract: Various arrangements of location-based in-vehicle restaurant menu systems are presented. In some embodiments, a location sensor that determines a global location of a vehicle is present. An in-vehicle display incorporated as part of the vehicle may be present. A location of the vehicle may be determined to correspond to a location-specific menu based on data received from the location sensor. A location-specific menu may be retrieved for the available restaurant location in response to determining the location of the vehicle. The location-specific menu may be output for presentation to the in-vehicle display, allowing a user to decide on his order before approaching an intercom system.

    Abstract: Object selection reward data, including rewards for viewer selection of objects of interest in presented media content of a video stream may be electronically communicated to the user automatically when the user electronically selects the object of interest as it is shown in the screen. Provided is improved functionality to activate an image in the video stream into an object that then can be selectable or become a part of an application running on a receiving device such as a set-top box or other media device. The received video may or may not be taken over by the application running on the set-top box. The video scaling can be preserved, and a part of the application. Alternatively, the whole of the visible video screen may not be a part of the application.

    Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for detecting reversed polarity bootleg ground wiring configurations of an electrical outlet are disclosed. For at least one embodiment, a system in includes a test transmitter and a test receiver. The test receiver being configured to detect a ping generated by the test transmitter and determine whether the ping is received via a proper receptacle of an outlet being tested. The system also includes a test receiver configured to determine is a bootleg ground configuration exists using one of time domain reflectometry and/or a resistance based measurement approach. A method for testing an outlet includes one or both of testing for reversed polarity and bootleg ground configurations.

    Abstract: A base station device used with a vehicle includes a first transceiver which communicates with a first network, a second transceiver which communicates with a second network, and a third transceiver which communicates with devices within the vehicle. The base station device also includes a processor and a memory device that cause the base station device to: obtain types of traffic being transmitted or received by the devices within the vehicle, assign first priority values to the types of traffic being transmitted or received by each of the devices within the vehicle, assign second priority values to the devices within the vehicle; assign each of the types of traffic to the first transceiver or the second transceiver based on the first priority values and the second priority values, and redirect traffic to the first transceiver and to the second transceiver.

The method includes: receiving, at a mobile device, a request from a user to receive a secondary audio track that corresponds with a primary audio track of an audio-visual (AV) program which is presented to the user; receiving the secondary audio track at the mobile device; receiving at the mobile device a playback-control cue; and in response to receiving the playback-control cue, outputting audio data of the secondary audio track so that the audio data is synchronized with the primary audio track.

    Abstract: Novel techniques are described for automated crisis incident response in facilities having networks of Internet of Things (IoT devices). For example, embodiments can operate in context of automatically responding to an active shooter incident in a school. Detection of a gunshot event can trigger embodiments automatically to obtain (e.g., retrieve and/or compute) and execute an automated response plan. Execution of the plan can involve automated control of multiple IoT devices installed in and around the facility, and can be responsive to feedback from the IoT devices. Some embodiments facilitate interaction with crisis responders via a responder network, providing such responders with various levels of information access and/or control of components (e.g., execution of the automated response plan can also be responsive to commands issued by responders.

    Abstract: Disclosed embodiments are directed an application program configured to run on a user's mobile device can allow voice-activated call pick-up to the user, without the user having to use his or her hands for picking up the call. For example, the application program can initially be trained to a user's voice command. When an incoming call is received at the mobile device, the user can pick up the call by issuing a voice command. In some embodiments, the application program can determine whether to allow voice-activated pick-up of calls based on data collected from multiple sensors associated with the vehicle, the mobile device, or a remote source.
