Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for grouping nodes to reduce collisions are described herein. In one aspect, a method for reducing collisions in a wireless communication network is provided. The method includes receiving a packet from a first wireless device, the packer including an indication of a packet loss observed by the first wireless device. The method then determines that a collision occurred based on the indication of a packet loss. The method then assigns at least one wireless device to at least one group, based at least in part on the detected collision.
Abstract:
The operation of one or more low power/low functionality wireless tags is established in a system, and an external station is then introduced to the system. Communication is established between wireless tags and the external station, wherein the external station directly receives advertised information transmitted from the wireless tags. Various modes of operation include: (1) the external STA is introduced into a system including passive wireless tags, which are associated with a wireless access point (AP); (2) the external STA is introduced into a system including active wireless tags, which are associated with a wireless AP; (3) the external STA is introduced into a system including passive wireless tags, which are not associated with a wireless AP; and (4) the external STA is introduced into a system that includes active wireless tags, which are not associated with a wireless AP.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for managing interference in a transmission medium are disclosed. A apparatus and method may be used to detect a condition experienced by only one of first and second wireless nodes, and modify an operational parameter of one of the first and second wireless nodes, if the condition is detected, such that both the first and second wireless nodes experience the condition or neither the first and second wireless nodes experience the condition.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for applying security to packets, for example, packets utilizing short MAC headers.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for reducing overhead paging are described. One example of such a method includes generating a compressed traffic indication map (TIM) element, the compressed TIM element comprising a partial virtual bitmap field constructed from at least one encoded block field that includes an encoded block information field identifying at least one encoding mode for encoded block information, and sending the compressed TIM element to an at least one station (STA) associated with the access point that supports at least one multiple basic service set identifier (BSSID). The method may also include, in response to the at least one encoding mode comprising an offset, length, bitmap (OLB) mode, encoding the encoded block information field to include a length subfield followed by contiguous subblock subfields, each subblock subfield including a corresponding subblock of a partial virtual map.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communications are disclosed. In one aspect, an apparatus for wireless communications includes a transceiver configured to wirelessly transmit and receive packets. The apparatus further includes a wake up circuit configured to wirelessly receive packets. The apparatus is further configured to detect reception of a wake up signal via the receiver and execute a command based on the wake up signal. In another aspect, an apparatus is disclosed, which generates and transmits wake up signals.
Abstract:
A method and system are disclosed that allow for the control of transmission characteristics associated with an exchange of protocol data units (PDUs) between a first wireless device and a second wireless device. The first wireless device determines a recovery time period and transmits the recovery time period to the second wireless device. The second wireless device may determine a time when the first wireless device enters the sleep state, wait for the recovery time period after the determined time, and then transmit a number of PDUs to the first wireless device after an expiration of the recovery time period.
Abstract:
A method includes determining, at a transmitter, whether the transmitter supports multi-fragment acknowledgment (MFA) based on a parameter of the transmitter. The method also includes transmitting a first frame to a receiver. A fragment block acknowledgment (BA) support sub-field of a sub-1 gigahertz (S1G) capabilities information field of a S1G capabilities element of the first frame has a first value in response to determining that the transmitter supports MFA. The fragment BA support sub-field has a second value in response to determining that the transmitter does not support MFA.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for setting up a relay in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a transmitter of a station is configured to transmit a relay request to an access point. The access point is configured to transmit a discovery request frame based on the relay request to at least one relay. Each of the at least one relay is configured to transmit a discovery message based on the discovery request frame to the station. A processor of the station is configured to select one relay of the at least one relay based on each received discovery message. The transmitter is further configured to transmit a message comprising an identification of the selected one relay of the at least one relay to the access point.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for compressing block acknowledgment (ACK) frames/packets are described herein. In some aspects, a method of communicating in a wireless network includes generating a compressed block acknowledgment frame including one or more of the following fields in a physical layer header: duration, receiver address, transmitter address, block acknowledgment control, block acknowledgment policy, compressed bitmap, compression control, starting sequence number. The method further includes transmitting the compressed block acknowledgment frame.
