摘要： A soft tissue anchor is provided for attaching soft tissue to bone. The anchor is useful generally throughout the body where soft tissue needs to be anchored to bone. It is particularly useful for reattaching separated tissues adjacent to an articular joint such as the hip, knee, or shoulder. For example it is well suited for reattaching labral tissue that has become separated from the glenoid rim adjacent a shoulder joint.

摘要： A monopolar electrode for use with a standard electrosurgical pencil and generator suitable for performing tissue ablation at relatively low power levels. The electrode has a cylindrical rim at its distal tip, the exposed conductive area of the cylindrical rim being minimized to create high powered densities sufficient for tissue ablation. The distal end of the electrode is surrounded by a ceramic insulating sleeve and an annular insulating gap is interposed between the electrode and the ceramic sleeve. A tubular polymeric insulating sleeve is applied to the outer surface of the electrode and to the outer surface of the proximal end of the ceramic sleeve.

摘要： A system for inserting a cannulated tissue anchor during endoscopic surgical procedures. The system incorporates an elongated generally cylindrical tissue anchor having a plurality of barbs outwardly extending from its body and a transverse head situated at its proximal end. The head is elongated along a major axis which is misaligned relative to the rows of barbs on the body of the tissue anchor in order to enhance retention of the anchor within selected tissue. The anchor may be inserted during an endoscopic surgical procedure by a single-handed operation utilizing an instrument having a longitudinally slidable needle for guiding the anchor into place and a longitudinally slidable push rod for pushing the anchor along the needle. The system incorporates a package/loading device to facilitate the assembly of a cannulated tissue anchor with the inserter, the package/loading device being provided with a means for guiding the inserter needle through the axial bore of the tissue anchor.

摘要： A ring blade and drive system, and method of using same, for harvesting bone-tendon-bone ligament grafts having substantially cylindrical bone plugs. The ring blade disclosed is a circular ring having a predetermined arcuate gap formed in its periphery. The drive system includes a blade holder to peripherally hold the ring blade and a fixed-center oscillating mechanism to oscillate the ring blade about its axis within a predetermined arcuate range of motion. The ring blade structure enables the production of a substantially cylindrical bone plug of unlimited length. Harvesting of a bone-tendon-bone ligament graft is facilitated with the ring blade and method disclosed which enables the ring blade to be placed partially around a tendon segment to create bone plugs aligned with the tendon fibers included in the defined tendon segment. The cuts into the bone may be initiated into the bone at either end of the tendon segment from the tendon side through to the exterior of the bone to which the tendon is attached.
