Abstract: Disclosed is a method for organizing a substantially uniform system of colorimetry comprising the steps of (i) taking a pseudoinverse of a matrix containing intensity values for an existing non-uniform color-matching functions; (ii) optionally normalizing the pseudoinverse matrix from step (i); (iii) empirically determining an opponency transformation matrix based on a plurality of substantially uniformly spaced color standards; (iv) transforming the matrix from step (ii) to a color opponency color coordinate utilizing the opponency transformation matrix from step (iii) to obtain a Red-Green, Yellow-Blue and Lightness (RG, YB and LT) color matching functions; and (v) transforming the RG, YB and LT color matching functions from step (iv) non-linearly to color matching functions that produce colors recognizable as being uniform by human vision; wherein after step (v) the existing non-uniform color matching functions are transformed into substantially uniform color matching functions.

Abstract: A doffing apparatus can be configured to couple to an automatically guided vehicle (AGV). The doffing apparatus can comprise at least one elongate arm, each elongate arm having a proximal end, a distal end, and a length, and at least one driver, each driver being configured to move along a respective elongate arm to move a bobbin toward the distal end of the elongate arm. The doffing apparatus can further comprise at least one alignment device. The doffing apparatus can further comprise a processor, wherein the processor is configured to: receive feedback from the at least one alignment device, provide a control signal to cause the AGV to align the elongate arm with a receptacle at a loader, and move the driver a select distance along the length of the elongate arm.

Abstract: Floor coverings having a greige good, an adhesive layer, and a secondary backing material. The greige good has a primary backing component having adjoined first and second portions, and a plurality of fibers. The secondary backing material has an attached portion and a first exposable portion, with the attached portion adhered to the first portion of the primary backing component by contact with the adhesive layer. The second portion of the primary backing component is unattached to the first exposable portion of the secondary backing material, and the first exposable portion defines a portion of the first end edge of the floor covering. The second portion of the primary backing component is selectively moveable relative to the first portion to a position in which at least a portion of the second portion of the primary backing component does not overlie the first exposable portion of the secondary backing material.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are writable, dry erasable two-part paint compositions that have an epoxy resin part and an aminosilane part, as well as a fluoro surfactant and a Gemini surfactant. The paint compositions have an amino to epoxy equivalent weight ratio from about 0.30 to about 0.65. Dry films formed from these paint compositions have relatively short dry time and markings on the dry films can be dry erased up to 33 days and beyond.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an aqueous latex composition comprising a substantially acrylic core-shell latex, wherein a water-retaining monomer is copolymerized to the shell. The Tg of the core ranges from about 0° C. to about 12° C., and the Tg of the shell ranges from about 13° C. to about 40° C. The mean volume average particle size of the latex ranges from about 125 nm to about 200 nm. The core-shell latex comprises at least one acrylic monomer having a solubility that ranges about 10 g/L to about 30 g/L at 30° C., and this at least one acrylic monomer is present in the shell polymer in an amount greater than about 50 wt. % of all monomers in the shell. Preferably, the at least one acrylic monomer is methyl methacrylate.

Abstract: A tufted article having a backing material and a plurality of tufts. The plurality of tufts can include cut tufts having first and second tuft portions projecting from a face surface of the backing material. The first and second tuft portions of each cut tuft have respective pile heights relative to the backing material. Each cut tuft also has a backstitch that joins the first and second tuft portions and extends across a portion of a back surface of the backing material. The plurality of tufts includes a plurality of asymmetric cut tufts that have first and second tuft portions with unequal pile heights. Systems and methods for making tufted articles having asymmetric cut tufts are also disclosed.
