Abstract:
A high capacity motorized rack holds a plurality of jewel case enclosed CDs in holders flexibly inter-connectable with each other to form a rotatable continuous loop. The loop is rotatably retained within a vertical rack housing and is driven by a motor, disposed within the housing, under user control such that the loop is rotated until a desired CD is moved to the top region of the belt. A rack may hold two or more such loops of inter-connected holders. In one embodiment a holder retains a single jewel case, and comprises two independent loops that are rotated with a single motor. A preferred embodiment employs inter-connectable holders that each retain two jewel cases in a side-by-side configuration. A lamp and/or barcode scanner may be disposed on the housing for ease of CD selection. The housing base preferably is detached during shipping to permit transporting the rack in a smaller volume container. User control can include voice commands to direct loop rotation and speed.
Abstract:
A combination shipping carton for photographic enlarger and print developing tray assembly wherein the shipping carton can be utilized to load the developing tray assembly in a light-tight environment after removal of the enlarger and developing tray from the shipping carton. The shipping carton includes a pair of telescopingly positioned open ended boxes forming an inner box and an outer box. The inner box includes, through the sidewall thereof, an access opening assembly which is connected to a light-tight sleeve assembly through which is to be conducted the user's hands in gaining access to the interior chamber of the inner box. The outer box includes a cut-out section which can be oriented with respect to the access opening assembly to gain access to the access opening assembly. The outer box can also be located in a different position on the inner box to cover the access opening assembly, which is the normal position during shipping.
Abstract:
A generally flat instrument provides electrical interfacing between an electro-surgical signal generator and an exposed surgical electrode. Dome-shaped momentary contact switches are sealed within the instrument housing at points convenient for manual usage. Low profile switches which resist seal degradation are employed and the device is readily adaptable for accepting replaceable chucks containing a preselected surgical electrode. The relatively narrow elongated housing imparts the feel of a non-electrical surgical instrument. Inclusion of one or more nubs or other raised portions on the switch domes facilitates identification of switch function without requiring direct observation by the user.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention include a pickleball paddle and method for making a pickleball paddle that produce a paddle that produces a lower audible sound when the paddle strikes a ball. The embodiment includes a core with a handle extending therefrom and first and second skins covering outer surfaces of the core. A sound reducing edge is secured to a circumferential core edge and the first and second skins are secured over the sound reducing edge. A transition between the core and the handle additionally adds to sound reduction.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides a method and apparatus for forming gas hydrates from a two-phase mixture of water and a hydrate forming gas. The two-phase mixture is created in a mixing zone which may be wholly included within the body of a spray nozzle. The two-phase mixture is subsequently sprayed into a reaction zone, where the reaction zone is under pressure and temperature conditions suitable for formation of the gas hydrate. The reaction zone pressure is less than the mixing zone pressure so that expansion of the hydrate-forming gas in the mixture provides a degree of cooling by the Joule-Thompson effect and provides more intimate mixing between the water and the hydrate-forming gas. The result of the process is the formation of gas hydrates continuously and with a greatly reduced induction time. An apparatus for conduct of the method is further provided.
Abstract:
An air-transporter conditioner device includes a housing defining an inlet and an outlet. An electro-kinetic system is disposed in the housing to create an airflow moving from the inlet to the outlet. A timer measures a time period corresponding to the electro-kinetic system and causes an indicator light to illuminate when the measured period reaches a threshold. An arc sensing circuit detects arcing between the first and second electrode arrays of the electro-kinetic system. The electro-kinetic system is turned off in response to arcing being detected by the arc sensing circuit. An indicator light can also specify that arcing has been detected.
Abstract:
A personal electro-kinetic electro-static air conditioner includes a self-contained ion generator that provides electro-kinetically moved air with ions and safe amounts of ozone, and includes a water retaining element to increase humidity of the output air flow. The ion generator includes a high voltage pulse generator whose output pulses are coupled between first and second electrode arrays. Preferably the first electrode array includes first and second pointed electrodes, and the second electrode array includes annular-like electrodes having a central opening coaxial with the associated pointed electrode. The surface of the annular-like electrodes is smooth and continuous through the opening and into a collar region through which the air flows. A water retaining member is disposed surrounding the output airflow to increase humidity of the output air, which is substantially cleansed of particulate matter, and contains safe amounts of ozone.
Abstract:
An electro-kinetic air mover for creating an airflow using no moving parts. The electro-kinetic air mover includes an ion generator that has an electrode assembly including a first array of emitter electrodes, a second array of collector electrodes, and a high voltage generator. Preferably, a third or leading or focus electrode is located upstream of the first array of emitter electrodes, and/or a trailing electrode is located downstream of the second array of collector electrodes. The device can also include an interstitial electrode located between collector electrodes, an enhanced collector electrode with an integrally formed trailing end, and an enhanced emitter electrode with an enhanced length in order to increase emissivity.
Abstract:
An air conditioner includes an ion generator that provides ions and safe amounts of ozone. The ion generator includes a high voltage generator that provides a voltage potential difference between first and second electrode arrays. At least one of the first and second arrays is removable from the housing for cleaning.
Abstract:
Electro-kinetic air transporter and conditioner systems and methods are provided. A system includes at least one emitter electrode and at least a one collector (and likely, at least a pair of collector electrodes) that are downstream from the emitter electrode. An insulated driver electrode is located adjacent a collector electrode, and where there is at least a pair of collector electrodes, between each pair of collector electrodes. A high voltage source provides a voltage potential to the at least one of the emitter electrode and the collector electrode(s), to thereby provide a potential different therebetween. The insulated driver electrode(s) may or may not be at a same voltage potential as the emitter electrode, but should be at a different voltage potential than the collector electrode(s).
