A device and method of data reproduction that can achieve a reference level optimizing the characteristic of a channel and can be applied to the reproduction of data on an optical disk are provided. According to the device and method, even when an input signal is in an abnormal state, an input level value can be initialized so that a Viterbi decoder can normally operate.
Abstract:
A data transmission method and apparatus encodes data to be transmitted over a wireless network on a unit basis, and provides the transmission data with information for allowing the transmission data to recover from an error being added thereto, transmits the transmission data to the wireless network, calculates a transfer success ratio depending on whether the transmission data have been successfully transmitted, and controls the transmission of the transmission data depending on whether the transfer success ratio is higher than a threshold value.
Abstract:
An adaptive equalizer has an FIR filter for generating an equalized output signal by equalizing an RF input signal, a sign detector for detecting a sign of the output signal, an absolute value calculator for calculating an absolute value of the output signal, a level error detection part for calculating an error by using a sign and an absolute value, and a coefficient calculator for calculating coefficients of the FIR filter based on the error. The level error detection part detects a detection level of the output signal, the detection level which is one of reference values required by a channel characteristic model of a decoder provided with the output signal, and calculates the error which is the difference between the detection level and a real level of the output signal. Since the sign and the value of the signal are used for calculating the error, the reliability of the error calculation increases.
Abstract:
A class D amplifier and a method of pulse width modulation are provided. The class D amplifier includes a sigma delta modulator, a reference signal generator, a pulse width modulator and an amplifier. The sigma delta modulator converts an M bit input signal into N bit pulse code modulation data (M and N are integers and M>N). The reference signal generator counts a system clock and generates an N bit reference signal having 2N data blocks in a sampling period of the pulse code modulation data. The pulse width modulator generates a plurality of pulse width modulation signals having at least two switching periods within the sampling period of the pulse code modulation data. The pulse width modulation signals have pulse widths varied based on a unit time interval of the reference signal. The unit time interval corresponds to one of the data blocks of the reference signal.

An apparatus and method for transmitting a multimedia data stream are provided. The apparatus includes a data source unit to output the data stream; a frame dividing unit to divide the data stream according to a type of a video frame included in the data stream and to output the divided data stream; a parameter control unit to select a parameter set for separate transmission control of the divided data stream using parameters for controlling a transmission layer; and a network interface unit to control transmission of the divided data stream using the parameter set. The method includes dividing the data stream according to a type of a video frame; selecting a parameter set for separate transmission control of the divided data stream; and controlling transmission of the divided data stream using the selected parameter set.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for displaying a message in a folder-type mobile terminal including a main body, a sub-body foldably mounted to the main body, said sub-body having a first display mounted on an outer side and a second display mounted on an inner side thereof. Upon receipt of a message, while the sub-body is folded, the mobile terminal displays an indicator indicating receipt of the message on the first display. Upon receipt of a key input corresponding to a user's external display request, the mobile terminal determines whether the first display is set to a double-line display mode. If the first display is set to the double-line display mode, the mobile terminal slidingly displays the received message on a first line of the first display and fixedly displays a message received time and a caller's phone number on a second line of the first display. However, if the first display is not set to the double-line display mode, the mobile terminal then slidingly displays, in sequence, the received message, the message received time and the caller's phone number on the first display.
Abstract:
A high-speed mixed analog/digital PRML data detection and clock recovery apparatus and method. The high-speed mixed analog/digital PRML data detection and clock recovery apparatus includes a variable gain amplifier, an analog equalizer, an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter, a DC offset remover, a level error detector, a Viterbi decoder, and an adaptive digital controller. The adaptive digital controller separately stores the level error values by predetermined frequencies, calculates predetermined coefficient values by each frequency component based on the level error values, and D/A-converts and applies the calculated predetermined coefficient values to the variable gain amplifier and the analog equalizer.

A Viterbi detection apparatus and a method therefor remove code error paths generated in optical Viterbi detection. Accordingly, paths containing 1T code based on a code condition are removed even under a condition PR (a, b) by extending a radix structure to facilitate high speed operation.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for detecting signal quality, and a computer readable recording medium having embodied thereon a program to execute the method. In the method for detecting the quality of an input signal, an estimated signal is calculated from an input signal by using a predetermined filter coefficient, then the filter coefficient is updated to minimize a difference between the estimated signal and the input signal, and based on the updated filter coefficient, the quality of the input signal is calculated.
