Abstract:
An apparatus and method for data transmission in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) communication system are provided. An OFDM system includes a reference Relay Station (RS) and a cooperative relay station respectively for performing an Spatially Layered transmission Mode (SLM) process by modulating a phase and magnitude of a signal by using a predetermined modulation order suitable for the reference relay station to obtain a spatially-layered signal and for delivering the spatially-layered signal to a target Mobile Station (MS); a Base Station (BS) for selecting the reference relay station and the cooperative relay station among a plurality of relay stations; and an mobile station for detecting data through Maximum Likelihood (ML) detection in which a signal having the largest ML is detected by comparing the received spatially-layered signal with a signal which is converted through the SLM upon receiving the spatially-layered signal from the reference relay station and the cooperative relay station.

Abstract:
A data encoding/decoding method in a multiple antenna communication system is provided. In the multiple antenna communication system, a transmitting end includes an encoder for performing Space Time Block Code (STBC) encoding on certain symbols among Transmit (Tx) symbols, a multiplexer for performing spatial multiplexing on the rest of symbols among the Tx symbols, and a transmitter for transmitting the STBC encoded symbols and the spatial-multiplexed symbols through a plurality of antennas.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus to detect data in a data storage device, and a method and an apparatus to effectively detect data in channels having characteristics in which bands of data to be reproduced are limited. The method includes partially selecting partial paths from paths of a Viterbi trellis having a number corresponding to an order of a polynomial used in equalization, in an order where path metric values increase from a path having a minimum path metric value, deciding a best path having a minimum path metric value among the partial paths, and detecting data based on the best path.
Abstract:
A method is provided for transmitting/receiving data in a communication system. The method includes determining, when data to be transmitted to at least one Mobile Station (MS) is generated, a region where an MS that receive the generated data among the at least one MS is located, allocating resources of a data transmission region divided into a first region and a second region to the MS that receive the generated data according to the determination result, including the generated data in a region where the resource is allocated, and including, in a MAP message region, resource allocation information of the region where the data is included and information on an MS that receive the data included in the resource-allocated region, and transmitting, to the MS, a frame including the region in which the generated data is included, and the MAP message region.
Abstract:
In a method of forming a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitor in a semiconductor device, after forming a capacitor insulation layer on a lower metal layer of the MIM capacitor, an upper electrode is formed by ion implantation into the capacitor insulation layer and silicidation, without a typical reactive ion etching process. Consequently, damage to the capacitor insulation layer can be minimized, and the area of the capacitor need not increase.
Abstract:
A rate 7/8 MTR code encoding/decoding method and apparatus. The encoding method includes: generating a rate-7/8 MTR code for inputting 7-bit data and outputting a predetermined 8-bit codeword; checking whether codewords satisfy a predetermined constraint condition by connecting the 8-bit codeword and a subsequent 8-bit codeword; and if the codewords do not violate the constraint condition, not converting the codewords. The decoding method includes: checking whether the codewords satisfy a predetermined MTR constraint condition by connecting a current 8-bit codeword c(k) and a subsequent 8-bit codeword c(k+1); if the codewords violate the constraint condition, converting the codewords, and if the codewords do not violate the constraint condition, not converting the codewords; and decoding each converted 8-bit codeword into 7-bit data using a predetermined MTR code. Data is reliably reproduced with high write density, and large amounts of data are stored in and reproduced from a magnetic recording information storage medium.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for adaptively adjusting a target Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) for Automatic Gain Control (AGC) in a full-duplex relay apparatus with an interference cancellation function. A Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) estimation block estimates an SIR based on an interference signal estimated from a received signal and an interference-cancelled signal determined by cancelling the estimated interference signal from the received signal. A target RSSI determination block determines a target RSSI according to the estimated SIR. An AGC block adjusts a gain for the received signal based on the determined target RSSI.
