    Abstract: An atherectomy device has a drive circuit which rotates a direct-current motor. The drive circuit has a three-terminal regulator having an ADJ terminal. A partial pressure resistor is connected between the ADJ terminal and an output terminal of the three-terminal regulator. Moreover, one end of six variable resistors whose resistances are set to be different from each other is connected to the ADJ terminal. The other end of the six variable resistors is selectively connected to the negative electrode of a battery by a change-over switch which is a rotary switch having six contacts. When the variable resistors are switched by the change-over switch, the output current of the three-terminal regulator becomes large. Thus, the rotation speed of a cutter which is rotated by the direct-current motor becomes high.

An indwelling needle assembly 10 in which an inner needle unit 16 comprises a storage housing 14 for storing a protector 52, and which is provided with a connecting member 94 that connects the storage housing 14 to an outer needle hub 20. The protector 52 prevents movement of the connecting member 94 and holds the storage housing 14 and the outer needle hub 20 in a connected state. Deformation or displacement of the protector 52 due to retraction of an inner needle 12 permits the movement of the connecting member 94 and makes it possible to release the connected state between the storage housing 14 and the outer needle hub 20.

    Abstract: Provided is a novel manufacturing method for a conical hollow needle that makes it possible to efficiently form a conical part that has a nearly perfectly circular outer circumferential surface shape. The present invention is a method of manufacturing a conical hollow needle that has a conical part that has a tapered outer circumferential surface. The manufacturing method involves immersing a hollow needle having a straight shape in an electrolyte solution to conically electropolish an outer circumferential surface. From a start to an end of the electropolishing, the hollow needle, which serves as an anode, is sandwiched between a pair of cathodes at a prescribed distance therefrom in a radial direction, and the hollow needle is rotated around a needle axis thereof to change which faces of the hollow needle are opposite to the cathodes.
