摘要: An improvement to the function of computer systems, including those that verify the identity of subjects arriving at checkpoints, is realized by (a) relying on a central resource, instead of checkpoints, to perform biometric comparisons, (b) using lists of expected subjects at the checkpoints, (c) providing rolling updates to the list of expected subjects as warranted by changes, and (d) locking the records of subjects once their identity is verified. The improvement resides in specialized logic that is specifically tailored to the checkpoint environment and, as such, leads to reduced computing resource consumption for the processing system, the memory, the network, and the components that interface with the network.

摘要: Various embodiments of the present invention are directed towards a system and method to dispense an explosive compound onto a substrate. An example device includes a solvent having the explosive compound dissolved in the solvent to form a sample. A delivery mechanism dispenses the sample in a dispersed manner to sufficiently vaporize the solvent to prevent wicking while dispersing a residue of the explosive compound on the substrate to enable detection by explosive detection tools.

摘要: In an example, an apparatus for mounting hardware to an object includes: a base member having an attachment surface to be attached to the object, base member magnets, and a base breakaway connection surface; a hardware support having a hardware support surface to receive the hardware, hardware support magnets, and a support breakaway connection surface to be magnetically coupled with the base breakaway connection surface, by magnetic attraction between the base member magnets and the hardware support magnets, to form a magnetic connection having a preset magnetic breakaway strength to maintain the magnetic connection and allow the hardware support and the base member to be separated by a force greater than the preset magnetic breakaway strength; and a fastener to fasten the hardware to the hardware support, the fastener keeping the hardware and the hardware support fastened together under a force sufficiently large to separate the magnetic connection.

摘要: In one example, an on-wing apparatus for in-situ cutting on a wing-to-fuselage attachment includes a first linear bearing disposed on a first mount plate to move in a first direction. A second linear bearing is disposed on a second mount plate to move in a second direction. The second mount plate is attached to the first linear bearing. A tool mounting member is attached to the second linear bearing. A cutter is attached to the tool mounting member to be adjustable, relative to the second linear bearing, in a rotational direction around an adjustment axis. One of the first direction and the second direction is a depth direction of the cut parallel to the adjustment axis, and the other is a length direction of the cut. A width position of the cut is determined by rotational adjustment of the cutter with respect to the second linear bearing in the rotational direction.

摘要: An X-ray imaging system for reconstructing X-ray spectra includes an integrating detector and a measurement mask, including at least one physical filter, positioned between the integrating detector and an X-ray source spectrum. The integrating detector receives a masked X-ray spectrum after the source spectrum has been filtered in accordance with the measurement mask. As a result of the measurement mask containing one or more physical filters being combined, a measurement mask having energy band-pass regions can be generated, to cover the source spectrum. Measured data, based on the masked X-ray spectrum and characteristics of the measurement mask, is collected from the integrating detector. The X-ray imaging system reconstructs an X-ray spectrum and generates the reconstructed X-ray spectrum based on applying a predetermined algorithm, such as total variation minimization reconstruction, to the measured data.

摘要: This application is directed generally to foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) 3C proteases that have been modified by mutating a polynucleotide sequence coding for the FMDV 3C protease. The modified FMDV proteases exhibit proteolytic activity on FMDV P1 precursor protein and exhibit a reduction in one or more toxic or inhibitory properties associated with an unmodified FMDV 3C protease on a host cell used to recombinantly produce it. Vectors carrying polynucleotides encoding modified FMDV 3C protease sequences can induce production of FMDV virus-like particles in a host cell when expressed in the host cell. The modified FMDV 3C proteases can generally be used to produce immunogenic FMDV preparations capable of inducing an immune response against FMDV.
