    Abstract: An electronic device may have a touch screen display or other input-output device that includes transparent conductive electrodes. The transparent conductive electrodes may be formed from a material that has a relatively high index of refraction such as indium tin oxide. Surrounding layers of the touch screen display such as a touch sensor substrate and an underlying display layer may have lower index of refraction values. To prevent abrupt index-of-refraction discontinuities that lead to unwanted reflections and visible artifacts on the display, the transparent conductive electrodes may be embedded within a dielectric layer. The dielectric layer may have a graded index of refraction. The graded index of refraction may be varied continuously or in a stepwise fashion by adjusting the composition of materials that are incorporated into the dielectric layer as a function of position within the layer.

    Abstract: Asymmetrically strengthened glass articles, methods for producing the same, and use of the articles in portable electronic device is disclosed. The asymmetrically strengthened glass articles include glass articles having a deeper compressive stress layer in a thicker portion of the glass article. Using a budgeted amount of compressive stress and tensile stress, asymmetric chemical strengthening is optimized for the utility of a glass article.     Abstract: An electronic device may have a housing surrounding an interior in which electrical components are mounted. A display may be mounted to housing structures in the device. The housing may have a rear wall. The display cover layer and rear wall of the housing may be formed from transparent glass layers. Coatings may be formed on inwardly facing surfaces of the transparent glass layers. A coating on a transparent glass layer may be formed from a thin-film interference filter having a stack of dielectric layers. The coating may include an ink layer on the thin-film interference filter. The transparent glass layers may have one or more textured surfaces that allow light at high angles to enter the transparent layers and reflect off the coatings at high angles, thereby adjusting optical properties of the coatings.
