摘要: A system comprises an electrophotographic subsystem, a transfer subsystem, an imaging member, and an inking subsystem. The electrophotographic subsystem comprises a photoreceptor, a charging subsystem, an exposure subsystem, and a development subsystem. In operation, the photoreceptor is charged areawise. An exposure pattern is formed by the exposure subsystem on the surface of the charged photoreceptor to thereby write a latent charge image onto the photoreceptor surface. The image is developed with an image defining material, such as a dampening fluid. The image defining material forms a negative pattern of the image to be printed. This negative image is then transferred to the reimageable surface. The negative image is then developed with ink. The inked image may be transferred to a substrate.

摘要: An image processing method for adding noise-like texture to the print through the manipulation of halftone screens. The method injects noise into halftone thresholds arrays rather than directly into the image. The method operates by creating a halftone threshold array of suitable size to support the desired noise characteristics. A textured pattern of a corresponding size is created having the desired noise characteristics and boundary transitions. The texture pattern is applied to the halftone threshold array by an amount determined by a noise amplitude control curve. The incoming contone image is then processed with the modified halftone screen.

摘要: The present invention relates to the manipulation of differential gloss as may be inherent in halftoned images by utilization of tags. By selectively applying halftones with anisotropic structure characteristics, which are significantly different in orientation while remaining identical in density, as directed by tag settings, a gloss image may be superimposed within an image without the need for special toners or paper. Conventional copier systems will not typically be able to copy such a superimposed gloss image.

摘要: Method and apparatus for improved transfer of charged developing material to a substrate in an electrophotographic printing apparatus by applying an oscillatory bias voltage to the charged developing material. The printing apparatus includes a toner transfer system having an intermediate transfer belt and a transfer station having a transfer charging device. The intermediate transfer member is provided with a biasing voltage, generating oscillatory electric fields in the transfer nip. As a result, the portion of the developed image present in the transfer nip is subjected to repeated transfer and back-transfer forces, resulting in fluidization, whereby the developed image is more efficiently transferred.

摘要: An imaging system for effecting electrostatic printing of an image, wherein the imaging system includes at least one contact electrostatic printing engine operable in a novel fashion upon a copy substrate, for imaging and development of an electrostatic latent image representative of the image, and subsequently transfers the developed image to the copy substrate. A toner cake delivery apparatus provides a thin, uniform toner cake layer of high solids content to a suitable receiving member for subsequent pressure contact with the surface of a latent image bearing imaging member such that a developed image is created by separating and selectively transferring portions of the toner cake layer in correspondence with the image and non-image regions of the latent image.

摘要: The methods and systems for efficiently transferring images from an image bearing member include placing an overlayer over a toner layer after placing the toner layer over the image bearing member. The overlayer reduces the adhesiveness of the toner layer to the image bearing member and, therefore, promotes efficient transfer to another substrate without applying heat. The overlayer also may have a higher cohesiveness and combine with the toner layer to increase the effective cohesiveness of the toner image to increase the efficiency of the transfer of the toner image. Overlayer materials include, by way of non-limiting example, a clear toner layer or a clear fluid layer.
