Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for using second screen devices to augment media engagement metrics. In one aspect, a method includes accessing user activity data describing user activities performed by a user on a first user device during a first time period, and accessing data describing presentation of one or more content items during the first time period on second user devices. For the first user device, determining based on the user activity data, for each of a plurality of second time periods that are sub-periods of the first time period, a first level of user engagement with the first user device, and determining, based on the user activity data, for each second time period that is a sub-period of the first time period, a second level of user engagement with the one or more content items presented.
Abstract:
In one implementation, a computer-implemented method includes accessing, by a computer system, information that describes use of one or more computer-based services by a particular user from one or more computing devices that are associated with the particular user; identifying one or more native applications that are associated with the one or more services, wherein the one or more native applications are configured to be installed and executed by one or more types of mobile computing devices; determining whether to recommend the one or more native applications based on the information and one or more threshold levels of use of the one or more computer-based services; and providing, based on the determining, a recommendation that is associated with the particular user and that identifies at least one of the one or more native applications.
Abstract:
A method for uploading content to a server may include associating an identifier and a trigger with a digital audio item uploaded to the server for inclusion into a digital multimedia store managed by the server. The identifier may identify the digital audio item from a plurality of other audio items available at the digital multimedia store. If the trigger is active, a first user interface may be displayed in the digital multimedia store. The first user interface may be associated with the uploaded digital audio item and may provide code for executing an embedding functionality. Upon execution, the embedding functionality may allow for automatic inclusion of the digital audio item into an individual media profile of a user. The media profile may be managed by the server and may be associated with the digital multimedia store.

Abstract:
A computer-implemented method, computer program product, and computing system for receiving, from a user, an intent to share a music track defined within a music consumption system. A query that identifies the music track is generated on a computing device. The query is provided to a video distribution system, wherein the video distribution system is configured to receive and process the query. A result set is received from the video distribution system. If the result set defines one of more videos, available via the video distribution system, that are related to the music track that the user intends to share, a post from the user is generated, on a social networking site, that includes at least one link locating at least one video selected from the one or more videos defined within the result set.
Abstract:
The disclosed subject matter provides methods and systems for presenting previously selected search results to a user. A first previously selected search result may be obtained from a first search provider. The first previously selected search result may be a first result, selected by a user, of a first prior search query executed by the first search provider. A second previously selected search result may be obtained from a second search provider, and the second previously selected search result may be a second result, selected by the user, of a second prior search query executed by the second search provider. Next, the first and second previously selected search results may be presented in an interface associated with a third search provider.
Abstract:
A method for identifying a media item is provided. A method includes identifying a list of previously activated media items based on a plurality of sources of media activation history for a user. Each previously activated media item may have a plurality of attributes. Next, a discovery media item may be identified based on the list of previously activated media items and the discovery media item may not be included in the list of previously activated media items. Additionally, an indication of the discovery media item may be presented to the user.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques are provided for intelligently streaming portions of media at higher quality over a limited bandwidth connection. Media may be received. The media may be one of a video and an audio track. The media may be divided into sections with a section start and a section end. Each section of the media may be scored based on an attribute of the section to obtain a priority score for each section. A first section of the media may be sent to be rendered on a remote device at a first quality. A second section of the media may be sent to be rendered on the remote device at a second quality. A portion of the second section may be sent concurrently with the first section. The second section may have a higher priority score than the first section. The second quality may be higher than the first quality.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for refining content selection criteria to facilitate content selection via a computer network. In some embodiments, a tool identifies a first entity used to select content of a first content provider. The first entity can correspond to a canonical stable identifier in a database. The tool can identify a plurality of sets of entities that each comprise the first entity and an additional entity different from the first entity. Each of the plurality of sets of entities can be associated with content of a corresponding content provider. The tool can determine a performance metric for the additional entity. The tool can compare the performance metric with a performance threshold. The tool can associate the additional entity with the content of the first content provider based on the comparison.
Abstract:
A method for automatic selection of songs for consumption in a music library may include assigning a selection score for each of a plurality of songs in the music library based on at least one selection criteria. A first list of songs may be generated from the plurality of songs. The selection score for each of the songs in the first list may be higher than a determined threshold value. A similarity score may be generated for each of the songs in the first list. The similarity score for a corresponding song in the first list may be based on a first number of songs selected from the plurality of songs, and the first number of songs may be similar to the corresponding song. The songs in the first list may be ranked based on a highest similarity score.
