Abstract: A method of providing contextual display modes for a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicle including obtaining aircraft flight information including a current position and altitude; retrieving vertiport information for a vertiport at the current position of the aircraft; displaying, to one or more operators of the aircraft, a takeoff synthetic vision display mode; transitioning, as the current altitude approaches the transitional altitude, from the takeoff synthetic vision display mode to a cruise synthetic vision display mode, wherein the cruise synthetic vision display mode represents the view from a cruise display viewpoint at the current altitude of the aircraft and at the current position of the aircraft; and displaying, in response to the current altitude equaling or exceeding the transitional altitude, the cruise synthetic vision display mode.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure assist pilots of aerial vehicles in performing particular operations utilizing improved user interface(s). In some contexts, pilots performing vertical takeoffs or vertical landings cannot visually inspect the environment around the vehicle. Embodiments of the present disclosure utilize virtual elements, including a virtual corridor and virtual vehicle corresponding to an aerial vehicle, to enable improved visualization and control of an aerial vehicle within a particular environment. Utilizing representation(s) of the virtual elements, including a virtual corridor and/or virtual vehicle, embodiments of the present disclosure provide improved user interfaces that assist a pilot in safely controlling an aerial vehicle (even without visual inspection of a real-world environment) during vertical takeoff and/or vertical landing.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for assisting operation of a vehicle using speech recognition and transcription to provide a conversation log graphical user interface (GUI) display. One method involves analyzing a transcription of an audio communication depicted on the conversation log GUI display to identify an operational subject associated with the audio communication, obtaining supplemental information pertaining to the operational subject from a data source, generating, on the conversation log GUI display, a selectable GUI element associated with the supplemental information, and in response to user selection of the selectable GUI element, generating, on the display device, a graphical representation based at least in part on the supplemental information. In some implementations, a separate supplemental information GUI display is presented in lieu of the conversation log GUI display in response to selection of the selectable GUI element.

Abstract: A system and method for alerting when a trend vector associated with a traffic aircraft is predicted to intercept a travel route of an ownship aircraft. A control module receives real-time aircraft state data, flight plan data, and traffic data associated with the traffic aircraft. The control module processes these data and constructs the travel route of the ownship aircraft from the current location to the intended destination The control module generates the trend vector associated with the traffic aircraft, predicts a location of an intersection of the trend vector and the travel route, determines an amount of time it will take for the ownship aircraft to reach the location of the intersection, and generates display commands that cause the display device to generate an alert that visually distinguishes the location on the image based at least in part on the amount of time.

Abstract: A flight deck system for providing progressive taxiing guidance is provided. The flight deck system comprises a controller configured to: generate a graphical insert to overlay a small portion of an active navigation display, the graphical insert providing a progressive depiction of upcoming travel surfaces on a cleared taxi route. The graphical insert comprises a non-linear map with non-linear scaling, a current travel surface alphanumeric indicator, and a current travel surface stick character representative of a current travel surface. The controller is further configured to position, on the graphical insert, a crossing travel surface sign, a first-turn travel surface stick character, and a second-turn travel surface stick character; update the position of the crossing travel surface sign, the first-turn travel surface stick character, and/or the second-turn travel surface stick character as the aircraft travels; and cause the graphical insert to be displayed as an overlay on the active navigation display.

Abstract: A method for sending environmental data to a vehicle in transit is disclosed. The method is performed by a ground system. The method includes receiving new environmental data from a plurality of environmental data providers. The method also includes synthesizing an update template that identifies recommended portions of relevant data that are available to be uploaded for at least one of a plurality of environmental data services. The method also includes sending the update template to the vehicle using a low-bandwidth connection, wherein the update template is sent by the ground system without first receiving a request for the update template. The method also includes receiving, from the vehicle, a request for the recommended portions of relevant data. The method also includes sending the recommended portions of relevant data to the vehicle in an update package using a high-bandwidth connection.

Abstract: A method of operating an augmented reality processed terrain and obstacle threat scouting service is provided. The method includes using at least one sensor of a monitoring vehicle to monitor terrain and obstacle data. The monitored terrain and obstacle data is compared with terrain and obstacle data in a terrain and obstacle database. A non-validated georeferenced delta is determined when the comparison of the monitored terrain and obstacle data with terrain and obstacle data in the terrain and obstacle database finds non-matching terrain and obstacle data. The non-validated georeferenced delta is transmitted to a ground distribution center, consumer vehicle and/or cloud based server. Non-validated georeferenced delta received at a consumer vehicle is differentiated from other terrain and obstacle data on a synthetic vision display. Non-validated georeferenced delta received at a ground distribution center is validated against at least one other source and validated and non-validated is distributed to subscribing consumers.
