摘要: A bottom stacker having a pair of slotted disks to receive incoming mail pieces one at a time from an input nip. The mail pieces are separately placed in the slots and carried by the rotation of the disks to a stack support in the stacker. The stack support is disposed at a small angle from the vertical axis so that the mail pieces in the stack are kept in the stack by gravity. When a new mail piece is carried in a slot toward the stack support, the lead edge of the mail piece is stopped by a stopping surface so as to disengage the mail piece from that slot. As the disks rotate further, part of the outer periphery of the disks moves the disengaged mail piece toward the stack so as to deposit the mail piece at the bottom of the stack.

摘要: Mail carriers are assisted in delivering mail pieces. Each group of mail pieces is received from a sorting system, for delivery to respective final destinations. Also, the sorting system provides delivery data, preferably in electronic form, about delivering the group of mail pieces. Subsequently, GPS is used to determine a location of the mail carrier along a mail route. Information is then provided to the mail carrier regarding delivery of the group of mail pieces, in response to the location of the mail carrier and in response to the delivery data that was received from the sorting system.

摘要: The present invention relates to turning and recording and/or reproducing multiple pages or leaves from a material, such as a book or periodical. A leaf lifting mechanism lifts the leaves of the material (e.g., book, periodical, etc.) from which the images are to be obtained. The leaf lifting mechanism can turn the leaves of the material itself, or also work cooperatively with an image recordation mechanism to turn the leaves of the material. During recordation, the image recordation mechanism follows the curvature of the leaf being recorded to minimize image distortion or degradation. The recorded images may be reproduced by a reproduction device such as a photocopier or printer.

摘要: A method for stacking objects in a container including the step of measuring a thickness value of each object at a plurality of predetermined locations along a face surface of the respective object. A cumulative thickness profile is developed indicative of a plurality of stacked objects, i.e., juxtaposed along each face surface. The cumulative thickness profile is, furthermore, calculated by summing each of the measured thickness dimensions at each of the predetermined locations. Next, a maximum thickness value is determined as each of the objects is measured and compared to a maximum fill value for each container to determine an overfill condition/number. The overfill condition corresponds to the number of objects which additively cause the maximum thickness value to exceed the maximum fill value. The objects may then be stacked based upon the overfill condition such that the total number of objects is less than the number corresponding to the overfill condition. The method facilitates optimum stacking of objects wherein at least one object has an irregular shape or non-uniform thickness profile.

摘要: An enclosure is formed from a single sheet of paper, which is of a standard size. The sheet of paper is folded along the short edges and then folded along a mid-section. Content material may be placed on the sheet of paper or printed information can be printed on desired surfaces of the paper. The paper may also be folded so that a fold-over flap is formed. The edges are attached through a sealing mechanism such as knurling, gluing, embossing or crimping, tabbing, stapling.

摘要: A high capacity sheet stacking system for stacking substantial quantities of the sequential sheet output of a reproducing apparatus on a sheet stacking tray providing an inclined sheet stacking surface at a substantial angle from the horizontal for receiving and registering sheets against an upstanding stack edge registration or alignment surface. Here, this stack edge alignment surface is automatically varied in height above the stacking surface with the change in stack height in the tray, in coordination with vertical repositioning of the sheet input level to the tray with stack height, so that an elevator system is not required for the stacking tray, and a simple fixed position tray may be used, yet high sheet stacking capacity provided.

摘要: An integral removable duplex module for use in conjunction with a reproduction processor is disclosed including two paper trays, a first operable as a duplex copy buffer tray or a paper tray and a second operable as an auxiliary paper tray, each tray having a copysheet feeder associated therewith comprised of a single cam operated mechanism having two cantilevered arms supporting constantly rotating feed rollers suspended above each paper tray and associated tray elevator mechanisms which enhances copysheet feeding when the feed rollers are pivoted toward the trays into copysheet feeding position and maintain copysheet trays in non-feeding positions during non-feeding operation. Copysheets are received in the duplex copy buffer tray from the reproduction processor via a reversible exit nip at the output of the processor, which directs sheets passed to an output back to a duplex module paper path, for repassing through the reproduction processor. Papers entering the module may be directed to either the duplex copy buffer tray or a trayless path which passes copysheets directly back to the processor. A method for operating the duplex module is described to efficient use of the trayless path, by directing copysheets thereto depending on the number of copies to be made. Accordingly, copysheets may be directable to the duplex tray or trayless path at various times during any run. Further use of the trayless path is made to advantageously improve two-up copying feature paper handling. Duplex operations are disabled on separation of the module from the reproduction processor.
