    摘要: A portable digital audio device is capable of playing a number of different data file types, such as music data files, speech data files, video data files, and the like. Different CODECs are generally used for different data types. The system determines the data file type and selects the appropriate CODEC based on the reported data file type. In addition, the reported data file type is used to select the appropriate media interface manager and appropriate user interface. The user interface, or “skin” is selected for compatibility with the media interface manager and selected CODEC. The appropriate controls are enabled and displayed for user operation. As new CODECs are added to the system, appropriate media interface managers and skins are also added to provide the necessary user interface compatibility.

    摘要: A self-adjusting moistening system for a mailing system is provided. The applicator is coupled to a float mechanism, placed in the reservoir of moistening fluid, by a spring. When the reservoir is full of moistening fluid, the spring is compressed, and therefore does not provide any force on the applicator. As the level of moistening fluid decreases, the height of the float mechanism in the reservoir will also decrease, thereby causing the spring to elongate. As the spring elongates, it will pull down on the applicator, thereby causing an increase in the force applied between the applicator and the wick. This increase in force provides a more uniform deposition of the moistening fluid to the envelope flap as the level of the moistening fluid in the reservoir varies from full to empty.

High-speed laser steering is used to position laser light or laser light pulses across a lateral and longitudinal extent in a relatively short time period such as a time period selected so as to avoid slowing, stopping or otherwise interfering with other container or container component production processes. Preferably, tab stock for container-opening tabs can be provided with 6 to 9 or more visible characters within a time window of 50 to 100 milliseconds or less. Preferably, the size and resolution provided by the pulses are sufficient to permit legible, and preferably attractive, formation of any standard typewriter characters. In one embodiment, other logos, designs, textures, backgrounds and similar features can be provided. In addition to tab stock, container ends can be laser marked during a standard process when a container-opening tab is joined to a container end and/or during an off-line process after the container-opening tab is joined to the container end.

The punch has a plurality of lands disposed about the internal periphery thereof which results in the punch having significantly more mass at or near the nose thereof than it does at the opposing end. The improved punch and ram assembly result in increased strength in the punch near the nose and increased strength in the ram at the area most removed from the nose of the punch and yet in engagement with the punch.
