Abstract:
A method and apparatus for receiving and processing channel quality index (CQI) reporting. A wireless transmit receive unit is configured to receive CQI configuration information and transmit a CQI report based on the CQI configuration information.
Abstract:
A method determining image orientation includes determining if an image includes an orientation tag and if the tag indicates the image is rotated +90 or −90 degrees. When the image does not include the tag or the tag does not indicates the image is rotated, the method includes determining if a face is detected in the original image and displaying the original image when a face is detected. When a face is not detected, the method includes rotating the image +90 and −90 degrees and detecting a face in the rotated images. When a face is not detected, the method includes applying a classifier to determine the image's proper orientation. When a face is detected in one rotated image, the method includes displaying the rotated image. When a face is detected in both rotated images, the method includes applying the classifier to determine the image's proper orientation.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for supporting a random access using a random access channel (RACH) are disclosed. Each of a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) sends a random access request to a base station on an uplink RACH preamble. A RACH Response, sent by the base station, is received by each WTRU. A control signal portion of the RACH Response indicates the location of the RACH Response message portion. The RACH Response control signal comprises multiple control channel elements (CCE), where each WTRU is allocated a respective CCE to provide its unique RACH Response control signal. The WTRU is configured to locate its intended CCE from among the multiple CCEs sent by the base station.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to manage a bonded digital subscriber line (DSL) service are disclosed. A disclosed example method comprises collecting data representative of bandwidth usage for two or more applications serviced by a bonded set of subscriber lines; analyzing historical activity of the two or more applications based on the collected bandwidth usage data; and selecting a first digital subscriber line (DSL) line profile for a first wire pair in the set of subscriber lines, the set of subscriber lines forming a single DSL communication link.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to test a subscriber line for a broadband access service are disclosed. An example network interface device (NID) comprises a tone generator to transmit a tone on a subscriber line to characterize the subscriber line while a DSL modem is providing a DSL service via the subscriber line, the tone having a frequency occurring within a range of frequencies in use by the DSL modem to provide the DSL service, and a pair of terminals to couple the DSL modem and the tone generator to the subscriber line.
Abstract:
A method for monitoring video delivery performance at an IPTV receiver is disclosed and can include recording video delivery performance data in a memory buffer at the IPTV receiver. Further, the method can include displaying a problem report window at a display device coupled to the IPTV receiver when a problem button is pressed. The trouble report window is configured to allow real-time reporting of trouble from a user.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for dynamically expanding and retracting a frame selection interval in a wireless communication network. A frame selector receives a sequence of frames for a call from each of a plurality of base stations serving a mobile communication device for the call, and performs a frame selection process based on an initial selection interval to select a best frame from the sequence of frames received from each of the base stations during each instance of the initial selection interval. The frame selector is adapted to track the presence and absence of late or early frames, and uses this information to dynamically expand the frame selection interval when late or early frames are detected. The frame selector then performs the frame selection process based on the expanded selection interval to select the best frame from the sequence of frames during subsequent instances of the expanded selection interval.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for supporting inter-frequency and inter-radio access technology (inter-RAT) handover are disclosed. A network provides measurement gap parameters for configuring a measurement gap to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU then performs a measurement based on the measurement gap parameters. Such measurement includes inter-frequency frequency division duplex (FDD) measurements, inter-RAT global standard for mobile communication (GSM) measurements, and inter-RAT universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS) measurements.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of spatial scalable compression of video stream. The video stream is a stream having a resolution higher than a specified resolution. Firstly, the video stream is down-sampled and encoded to obtain a base stream; then the base stream is decoded and up-sampled to obtain a reconstructed stream; the reconstructed stream is subtracted from the video stream to obtain a residual stream; and next, a gain value is obtained according to an expected bitrate; in the end, the gain value is multiplied by the residual stream, the result obtained thereby is encoded to obtain an enhancement stream. The invention can not only determine the gain value according to the video stream itself, but also adjust the gain value dynamically according to external application environments, thus enabling the bitrate of the enhancement stream to meet the actual demand always.
