Abstract:
A transmitter that is electrically connected to a circuit and an associated receiver is used to identify an element of that circuit in the presence of other circuits. This may be used in AC or DC systems that are powered or not to identify or trace circuit elements such as lines, junctions, switches, fuses, or breakers. One version that identifies the circuit breaker of the circuit connected to the transmitter in a powered AC distribution system.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for penetrating the bone marrow is provided. The apparatus includes a housing, a penetrator assembly, operable to penetrate the bone marrow, a connector operable to releasably attach the penetrator assembly to a drill shaft, the drill shaft operable to connect the penetrator assembly to a gear assembly, a gear assembly operable to engage and rotate the drill shaft, a motor operable to engage the reduction gear assembly and drive the penetrator into the bone marrow by rotation of the drill shaft, and a power supply and associated circuitry operable to power the motor. The apparatus and method may be adapted to insert a probe through the skull and into the brain.
Abstract:
An apparatus for penetrating the bone marrow of a bone is provided. The apparatus includes a handle having a drive shaft, a connector having a first end operable to connect to a drive shaft and a second end operable to connect to a penetrator hub and a penetrator hub having a penetrator that accesses the bone marrow.
Abstract:
An arm motion assembly for an exercise device includes a first link which is pivotally affixed to a frame portion of the exercise device at a first pivot point so as to be capable of reciprocal motion thereabout. The assembly includes a second link which is pivotally affixed to a second frame portion of the exercise device at a second pivot point separated from the first pivot point so that the second link is capable of reciprocal motion about the second pivot point. The assembly includes a connector link which extends between the first link and the second link. The connector link is pivotally joined to the first link at a first junction point and to the second link at a second junction point so that when one of said first links and said second links reciprocates about its respective pivot point the connector link causes the other of said links to pivot about its respective pivot point. The assembly includes a handgrip which is affixed to the connector link or to one of the first and second links.
Abstract:
An electronic program schedule system with product ordering capability which includes a data processor for receiving program schedule information for a plurality of programs, and a user control apparatus, such as a remote controller, for generating user control commands and transmitting signals to the data processor in response thereto. The television program schedule information is displayed on a display apparatus such as a television receiver. A video display generator receives video control commands from the data processor and program schedule information and displays a portion of the program schedule information on the receiver. The program schedule information indicates the availability of a product or service for certain of the programs included in the program information, wherein the product or service is associated with the program, such as a program transcript or videocassette. The viewer utilizes the remote control apparatus to generate a first command for displaying information on the receiver describing the product or service, and a second command for placing an order for the product or service. The data processor receives the user control commands and in response to the first command causes the video display generator to display information describing the product or service and in response to the second command generates an order for the product or service.
Abstract:
An electronic program schedule system with access to both stored television program schedule information and data feeds containing status information for live programs such as sporting events. The system includes a data processor for receiving program schedule information for a plurality of programs and data feeds containing status information for certain of the programs, and a video display generator for generating a display signal simultaneously comprising information from both the stored schedule information and the received data feed. The system is further provided with user control means such as a remote controller for generating user control commands and transmitting signals to the data processor in response thereto so as to control the content of the display signal. The display signal may be displayed on a display apparatus such as a television receiver. In addition, the program schedule system of the present invention utilizes category-specific user interfaces providing access to multiple services including television programs, received data feeds, home shopping services, and video games as well as the stored program schedule information.
Abstract:
A self-propelled exercise device such as a bicycle includes a frame having a drive wheel rotatably supported thereupon. The bicycle includes a first and a second foot link which are powered by the user. A coupler assembly directs the first end of each foot link in an arcuate path of travel, and a foot link guide directs the second end of each foot link in a reciprocating path of travel. A power transfer linkage is in mechanical communication with the coupler assembly and with the drive wheel. When the device is in use, a user's foot disposed upon the foot link travels in an elliptical path of travel and provides power to the foot link. This power is transferred to the drive wheel by the power transfer linkage so as to propel the bicycle.
Abstract:
A jumping jack exercise device that includes a frame configured to be supported on a floor. A first and second leg link, each including a foot support, pivotally supported by the frame for motion in a straddle plane which extends to the sides of a user whose feet are engaged by the foot supports. The exercise device also includes two arm links, which allow for motion in the straddle plane. The device permits a user to perform a jumping jack exercise under low impact conditions.

Abstract:
An exercise device includes a frame which supports a pair of foot links so that a first end of each foot link is pivotably coupled to the frame for motion about an arcuate path. A guide which is supported by the frame engages each foot link and directs a second end of each foot link along a closed, curved, generally teardrop shaped path of travel. This combination of motions defined by the foot link provides a natural running and stepping motion in which the heel of a user's foot initially rises faster than the toe as the foot begins to move forward and subsequently falls faster than the toe as the foot begins to move backward.
