    摘要: A vision system is provided to determine a positional relationship between a semiconductor wafer on a platen and an element on a processing machine, such as a printing screen, on a remote side of the semiconductor wafer from the platen. A source directs infrared light through an aperture in the platen to illuminate the semiconductor wafer and cast a shadow onto the element adjacent an edge of the semiconductor wafer. A video camera produces an image using light received from the platen aperture, wherein some of that received light was reflected by the wafer. The edge of the semiconductor wafer in the image is well defined by a dark/light transition.

    摘要: A method and system for providing a laser diode submount for use in an energy assisted magnetic recording disk drive are described. A portion of a silicon substrate is removed, forming trenches therein. Each trench has sidewalls, surrounds a silicon island corresponding to a laser diode submount, and corresponds to a thickness of the laser diode submount. The silicon island has a top surface and a facets corresponding to the trench sidewalls. Insulator(s) for the top surface and facets of the silicon island are provided. Metallization is provided on the top surface and facets of the silicon island. A first portion of the metallization on the top surface corresponds to under bump metal (UBM) for solder pad(s). A second portion of the metallization corresponds to electrical traces. Solder pad(s) are provided on the UBM. The silicon island is released from the silicon substrate.

For example, a data detector is disclosed that includes a first set of counters operable to distinguish prunable data from non-prunable data in the data detector, a second set of counters operable to generate initial values for the first set of counters, and a prune control signal generator operable to generate a prune control signal based on the first set of counters. The second set of counters is operable to generate the initial values at least in part before a syncmark is detected in a data sector. The initial values are used to initialize the first set of counters when the syncmark is detected in the data sector. The prune control signal controls whether the data detector is allowed to prune a trellis.

    摘要: A method and system for providing energy assisted magnetic recording (EAMR) heads are described. The heads include sliders and lasers coupled with the sliders. The method and system include molding an enclosure layer. The enclosure layer has a laser-facing surface and a top surface opposing the laser-facing surface. The laser-facing surface has a cavity including a concave section. The method and system further includes providing a reflective layer on the cavity. A portion of the reflective layer resides on the concave section, collimates light from the laser, and provides the collimated light to the EAMR transducer. The method and system further includes aligning the concave section of the cavity with a light emitting portion of the laser. The enclosure layer is also bonded to the slider.
