摘要: A flow rate control mechanism for use in controlling the flow rate of exhaust gases in an exhaust gas re-circulating system of an internal combustion engine. This mechanism includes a swirl flow chamber having a circular cross section, a first nozzle and a second nozzle, the former of which is open through the inner wall of the swirl flow chamber therein in the direction normal thereto and the latter of which is open through inner wall of the swirl flow chamber therein in the direction tangential thereto. The latter nozzle is positioned close to the opening of the former or first nozzle. The first nozzle directed in the normal direction extracts part of exhaust gases through an exhaust manifold, while the second nozzle directed in the tangential direction is communicated with atmosphere. The opening of the first nozzle is close to the opening of the second nozzle, so that the pressure at the opening of the first nozzle approximates the atmospheric pressure. As a result, the flow rate of exhaust gases which having been extracted through the exhaust manifold and fed into the flow rate control mechanism will be proportional to the square root of the exhaust gas pressure. On the other hand, the flow rate of intake air will be proportional to the square root of the exhaust gas pressure. Thus, the exhaust gases at a flow rate proportional to that of intake air is introduced into the swirl flow chamber, so that the both gases are mixed therein and fed into an intake manifold.

摘要: An improved air flow direction control valve particularly adapted for use with an exhaust gas purifying system on an internal combustion engine to control the direction of flow of air to be mixed into exhaust gas for effecting additional combustion of the uncombusted constituents therein. The valve essentially comprises a pair of valve members selectively operable to open one of two main outlets and a diaphragm operated shaft for selectively operating the two valve members upon movement between a first and a second position. The shaft is formed with a pair of shoulders which define a reduced diameter shaft portion therebetween, and the two valve members encircle the reduced diameter shaft portion in an oppositely facing relation. The reduced diameter shaft portion is slidable relative to the two valve members and upon movement of the shaft axially into its first position, one of the shoulders thereof is engageable with the first valve member to open the first main outlet, while the other shoulder is engageable with the second valve member to open the second main outlet upon movement of the shaft into its second position. At least one coil spring is provided for urging either of the valve members not engaged by the corresponding shaft shoulder, into a position to keep the corresponding valve outlet closed. The valve further includes a third valve member which is resiliently supported to close an auxiliary valve outlet. According to one embodiment of the invention, the third valve member is operated independently of the shaft, while according to another embodiment, it is operationally associated with the shaft.

摘要: An indicator of vehicle service intervals for use in a vehicle comprising a transducer for transducing the revolution of the transmission output shaft of the vehicle into an electrical signal, an electrolytic integrating element electrolytically corroded by the output signal of the transducer, and a display unit for giving visible and audible alarms in response to the circuit cut-off action of the time limit element. In the system, successive pulses representing the distance traveled by the vehicle are integrated to cause progressive electrolytic corrosion of the electrolytic integrating element, and the alarm is displayed when the total traveled distance attains a predetermined value.

摘要: A method and apparatus for removing dust from a base film effectively so that electrostatic charges of the base film are reduced while the cleaning effect is kept high. After a cleaning solvent is applied onto one surface of a base film by a precoater, a rod member is pressed against the base film while the cleaning solvent remains on the base film, so that deposits on the base film are separated and scraped together with the cleaning solvent from the base film by the rod member. Just after the deposits are scraped from the base member, a solvent, of the same kind as the cleaning solvent or a mixture of a solvent of the same kind as the cleaning solvent and an additive mixed thereto, is applied onto the base film while the surface of the base film coated with the cleaning solvent is not exposed to an atmospheric air space.

摘要: A method of applying a liquid to a flexible substrate and more particularly to a method in which a magnetic liquid or the like is applied to a flexible area so that a thin liquid film is disposed on the carrier for manufacturing an application-type magnetic recording medium. The method includes positioning carrier and a back edge portion of an application head near each other, discharging the liquid from a slot provided in the head and lapping the carrier and the doctor edge portion of the head, located downstream of the slot, with each other at a predescribed lap angle for the application, and thereafter performing the application. The method further includes moving a path roller which is disposed upstream of the head and to adjust the lap angle, discharging the liquid from the slot of the head and moving the carrier to the head. According a further aspect of the invention, a downstream roller is moved in the direction of the carrier to further adjust the lap angle of the doctor edge portion. According to a further aspect of the invention, rather than translating the path rollers, the head is rotated a predescribed angle such that the back edge portion of the head is first placed near the carrier. Thereafter, liquid is discharged from the slot and the head is rotated so as to properly set the lap angle of the doctor edge portion.

摘要: A coating method in which a surface of a web 7, which is supported by a pair of support rolls 2 and 3 so as to run continuously along a back edge surface 4 and a doctor edge surface 5 of a coating head 1, is coated with a coating composition by the coating head 1. The coating method includes setting an optimum coating condition by adjusting the distance b from a top end portion 10 of a slot 6 to each of the points of tangency 8 and 9 where the web 7 contacts the respective support rolls 2 and 3 on the basis of a relation expression under the consideration of the thickness t, Young's modulus E and Poisson's ratio .nu. of the web 7, the deviation .delta. of rotation due to the eccentricity of each of the support rolls 2 and 3, and the carrying tension T per unit width of the web 7; and extruding the coating composition continuously from the top end portion 10 of the slot 6 of the coating head 1 to the surface of the web 7. Accordingly, a good coating method is provided in which a uniform coating layer can be obtained on the basis of the clarification of a coating condition in which a coating composition is applied onto a thin web without the occurrence of any stripe irregularity and/or any thickness irregularity.
