摘要： A liquid crystal display device includes an array substrate having a plurality of pixel electrodes in a matrix form, a counter substrate having a counter electrode opposed to the pixel electrodes, a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules disposed between the array and counter substrate, a first and second alignment layers, the first alignment layer disposed between the array substrate and the liquid crystal layer, the second alignment layer disposed between the counter substrate and the liquid crystal layer, and each of which are treated so as to give a predetermined pre-tilt angle to the liquid crystal molecules, and a shield electrode disposed a region applied a lateral electric field which is against to a direction of the pre-tilt angle. A potential difference between the shield electrode and the counter electrode is adjusted to a first potential difference during a first period, and the potential difference between the shield electrode and the counter electrode is adjusted to a second potential difference, which is smaller than the first potential difference, during a second period continuing after the first period so as to apply an alternating current voltage between the counter electrode and the shield electrode.

摘要： A light-weight base body of a reflecting mirror, such as those used in reflecting astronomical telescopes, is proposed which is made from fused silica glass or high-silica glass and is advantageous in respect of the excellent thermal and mechanical stability in dimensions to ensure high performance of the reflecting mirror. The base body is composed of a front plate, i.e. a surface plate to provide the optical surface, and a supporting body of porous foamed glass integrally bonded to the front plate. These two parts of the base body can be bonded together by sandwiching a layer of a finely divided silica powder therebetween and heating the assemblage at a temperature higher than the softening point of the silica powder so that the silica powder is softened or melted to firmly join the two parts sandwiching the powder layer. The base body can be further improved in respect of the mechanical stability by providing a rear plate backing the porous foamed body and a reinforcing hoop-like side layer surrounding the side surface of the porous foamed body, each made from fused quartz glass or high-silica glass and bonded to the porous foamed body by utilizing melting of a layer of silica powder therebetween.

摘要： There is an image processing apparatus to obtain a desired processed image by performing a predetermined image process to an input image. This apparatus comprises: an image input unit to input the image data; an image processor which can perform different image processes; a selector to select the kind of image process to be executed by the image processor; a memory to store different sample processed images which were subjected to the image processes; and a display to display both a sample image before execution of the image process and the sample processed image corresponding to the selected image process from the memory in accordance with selection by the selector. The image processor can perform the edge extracting process, mosaic process, and the like. With this apparatus, the operator can easily obtain various sample processed images and can extend the processed image of the original image by merely inputting a processing command.

摘要： An automatic station searching device for a radio receiver in which the order in which the station data is stored in a memory device can be altered so that the user can easily selected between storage in the order of signal strength or storage in the order of frequency. Frequency and signal strength data for received stations are stored in order of signal strength during the sweeping operation. At the end of the sweeping operation, the data are rearranged in order of frequency if a memory bit has been set to so indicate.
