Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may explicitly or implicitly identify one or more parameters associated with a user equipment (UE), and may classify the UE into a cluster of UEs based on identifying the one or more parameters. The base station may determine a customized function block based on classifying the UE into the cluster of UEs. For example, the base station may determine the customized function block based on determining whether the cluster of UEs is associated with a pre-trained customized function block. The base station may then transmit the customized function block to the UE. The UE may receive the customized function block and may process one or more signals at the UE based on the received customized function block.

Abstract: A communication network element may send to a plurality of wireless devices a base radio link priority model that provides as an output a first prioritization of radio links. The wireless devices may generate trained radio link priority models using machine learning based on one or more attempts to establish a communication link with the communication network. The communication network element may receive trained radio link priority models from one or more wireless devices, update the base radio link priority model, and send to the wireless devices an updated base radio link priority model that provides as an output a second prioritization of radio links.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods of beam switching are presented. A beam switch message (BSM) is transmitted to a second device via a first beam set. The BSM includes a command to switch from communication via the first beam set to communication via a second beam set at a switch time. A response message is received from the second device via the first beam set. The response message indicates that the second device received the BSM. A communication is sent to the second device via the second beam set after the switch time if the response message is received.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for handover of a user equipment (UE) from a serving base station to a target base station. A target base station may use one or more directional beams to establish wireless communication links with UEs within a coverage area of the target base station. Directional beams may create a narrow-beam, high-bandwidth connection with a UE in a limited geographic area. Handover procedures include some latency between when a target base station dedicates resources to a UE and when the UE executes a communication via those dedicated resources. To compensate for latencies in a handover procedure and for the geographic limitations of directional beams, a target base station may assign multiple directional beams to the UE during a handover procedure. Each directional beam may be associated with access parameters used by the UE to generate messages (e.g., a RACH message) during the handover procedure.
