Abstract: Aspects disclosed herein include a device including a first antenna substrate including one or more antennas. The device also includes a metallization structure. The device also includes a first spacer disposed between the first antenna substrate and the metallization structure, configured to maintain a constant distance between the first antenna substrate and the metallization structure. The device also includes a first plurality of conductive elements, disposed within the first spacer, configured to electrically couple the first antenna substrate to the metallization structure. The device also includes where the first spacer is configured to enclose all the conductive elements, electrically coupled to the first antenna substrate, and is configured to form an air gap between the first antenna substrate and the metallization structure. The device also includes where the first plurality of conductive elements is separated by air in the air gap.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for implementing a display-side antenna are disclosed herein. An example apparatus for wireless communication includes a housing and a display device supported by the housing. The example display device includes at least a glass cover and a panel positioned between the glass cover and an internal surface of the housing. The panel may be configured to output graphical content for presentment on the glass cover via pixels arranged within a visible area of the panel. The example apparatus also includes an antenna array. The antenna array may be configured to facilitate wireless communication at the apparatus. The antenna array may be positioned to overlap a portion of the visible area of the panel and configured to allow graphical content output by the panel to display on the glass cover at the overlapped portion of the visible area.

Abstract: Aspects are directed to an apparatus for wireless communication. In some examples, the apparatus includes one or more memories, individually or in combination, having instructions. In some examples, the apparatus includes one or more processors, individually or in combination, configured to execute the instructions. In some examples, the one or more processors may be configured to obtain an indication of resources. In some examples, the one or more processors may be configured to output an aggregated signal for transmission via a plurality of antenna modules using the indicated resources, wherein the aggregated signal is associated with a first beamformed signal configured for transmission via a first antenna module of the plurality of antenna modules and a second beamformed signal configured for transmission via a second antenna module of the plurality of antenna modules.

BEAMFORMING CODEBOOK ADAPTATION FOR FLEXIBLE WIRELESS DEVICES

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A codebook adaptation may be performed for a flexible user equipment (UEs) to determine a codebook for a physical configuration of the UE. For example, if the UE determines that the physical configuration does not correspond to a pre-loaded codebook in its memory, the UE may provide information about the physical configuration to a base station to determine a corresponding codebook. Additionally, the UE may request that the base station provide channel information to assist with the codebook determination. In some cases, this request may indicate for the base station to allocate a specific number of channel state information reference signal symbols that the UE can use for the codebook determination. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may generate the codebook internally and then signal to the base station a request for a beam refinement procedure with the generated codebook.

Abstract: UE capability indications of a millimeter wave antenna module enhanced with a reflector are described. An apparatus is configured to train or refine, with a network node, at least one beam for beamformed communications associated with the UE. The UE includes an antenna array with an associated non-radiating reflector of energy. The apparatus is configured to communicate, with the network node, using the antenna array and the at least one beam. Another apparatus is configured to train or refine, with a UE, at least one beam for beamformed communications associated with the UE based on a capability indication that indicates the UE includes an antenna array with an associated non-radiating reflector of energy. The apparatus is configured to communicate with the antenna array of the UE based on the at least one beam.
