Abstract: A method of operating a user equipment in a communications system including at least one cell that is controlled by a radio access node. The method includes maintaining current state information relating to the user equipment, the state information including at least one state information part associated with features for which state information reporting is configured in at least one cell, at least one state information part being associable with a plurality of different values, receiving an indication from the radio access node regarding state information held by the radio access node relating to the user equipment, determining whether to report current state information relating to the radio access node on the basis of the received indication, and reporting a current value associated with at least a given state information part to the radio access node.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for controlling an active state in a mobile communication system. The method includes receiving, from a base station, information related to a starting position of an active state and information related to a length of a first timer; deriving the starting position of the active state based on the information related to the starting position; starting the first timer set to the length of the first timer and entering the active state at the derived starting position; extending the active state, in response to control data indicating a new transmission of user data being received on a control channel; and terminating the active state, based on a control signal indicating a termination of the active state and a second timer for extending the active state. The second timer is started while the first timer is running, and the active state is terminated by the expiration of the second timer.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting power headroom information by a terminal in a mobile communication system. The method includes receiving, by the terminal, information for an allocated uplink transmission resource; identifying whether a path loss has changed by more than a threshold, after transmitting last power headroom information, when the terminal has the allocated uplink transmission resource; in case that the path loss has changed by more than the threshold when the terminal has the allocated uplink transmission resource, determining a transmission of the power headroom information; and transmitting an uplink packet including the power headroom information based on the allocated uplink transmission resource. The power headroom information is obtained based on a difference between a maximum transmission power of the terminal and a transmission power of the terminal.

The initial deployment of mmWave/cmWave system is expected to operate as non-standalone system to provide additional radio resources to the UE which would be connected to the LTE-A cell for coverage purpose. The present disclosure covers initial access aspects of a UE on such future wireless system.

The method of transmitting data in user equipment of a wireless communication system using a carrier aggregation technique according to an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of setting secondary cells included in an S-TAG (Secondary-Timing Advance Group) configured of only secondary cells (SCells), deactivating a downlink timing reference cell in the S-TAG; determining whether other activated secondary cells exist besides the deactivated downlink timing reference cell in the S-TAG, and when the other activated secondary cells exist in the S-TAG, setting one of the other activated secondary cells as a new downlink timing reference cell. According to the present invention, uplink transmission speed can be increased in the user equipment and user QoS can be improved by transmitting data using one or more uplink carriers in the terminal.
