Abstract: A method, performed by a user equipment (UE), in a wireless communication system includes: obtaining sidelink logical channel configuration information corresponding to a logical channel and including a sidelink logical channel priority (sl-priority) parameter; selecting a destination associated with one of unicast, groupcast, and broadcast, based on the sidelink logical channel configuration information and sl-priority configured for each of at least one logical channel including sidelink data available for transmission; allocating sidelink resources to at least one logical channel corresponding to the destination based on the sl-priority configured for each of the at least one logical channel corresponding to the destination; multiplexing sidelink data included in the at least one logical channel corresponding to the destination to a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU); and transmitting the MAC PDU to another UE using the sidelink resources.

The communication method and system may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A system is provided for determining system information validity by acquiring and storing a first system information block and other system information, including information on a public land mobile network (PLMN) identity and a value tag, and determining whether the stored system information is valid for the cell. As another example, a terminal and base station are provided for performing beam failure detection and a recovery procedure using first and second configuration information for beam failure recovery (BFR) and if failure is detected, initiating a first random access (RA) procedure and if second configuration information is received while the first RA procedure is ongoing, terminating the first RA procedure and initiating a second RA procedure based on the second configuration information.

A method and system for managing data transmission in a communication network is provided. During Data Resource Bearer (DRB) creation, network signals to a transmitting node, the data transfer requirement. The network uses a signaling parameter to indicate a large data transfer requirement. Based on the data transfer requirement information collected from the network, the transmitting node determines the type of data format that needs to be used for the data transmission. If the network signals large data transfer requirement, then the transmitting node selects a Subheader format in which the length field of the data format suits the large data transfer requirement. Further, data communication is initiated using the selected Subheader format.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method that decodes a broadcast channel to obtain first system information periodically broadcasted from a base station; applies at least one cell selection parameter indicated in the first system information to camp on a cell served by the base station and storing the first system information; accesses the camped cell based on at least one random access parameter indicated in the first system information; and determines whether at least one of a system information block of second system information available in the camped cell is provided based on at least one of the periodic broadcast and an on-demand basis. The on-demand basis to deliver the corresponding system information block of the second system information available in the camped cell is decided based on at least one of an indication and a flag included in the first system information for the system information block.
