Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to a method and system for determining viscosity information of fluids. The present disclosure utilizes an intensity modulated continuous wave (CW) laser diode-based PA sensing method to obtain a continuous wave photoacoustic (CWPA) spectra. Through this CWPA spectra, a full width half maximum (FWHM) and a spectral area is determined to obtain the information about the viscosity of fluids. Although, the CWPA based sensing technique is used for distinguishing different types of abnormalities in tissues, so far it is not used for measuring viscosity which is an important thermo-physical property. The viscosity information of the fluids from the normalized Gaussian fitted CWPA spectra is based on a viscosity feature computed from a FWHM, and a spectral area. The viscosity feature improves the good of fit parameter (R2) significantly to 0.98 as compared to the traditional only FWHM based viscosity determination for which R2 is 0.91.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to methods and systems for real time unobtrusive monitoring of physiological signals of a subject confined to a bed. Output of single channel continuous wave (CW) radars are dependent upon distance of the subject from the radar. Dual channel IQ radars are more accurate but are costly and availability in the market is a constraint. The present disclosure provides a cheap and easily replicable pseudo IQ radar based system. The pseudo IQ radar comprises two CW radars placed at a calibrated distance from each other such that optimum points of one CW radar spatially overlaps null points of the other CW radar and phase imbalance is suppressed. Three such pseudo IQ radars are positioned in a predetermined configuration around the subject being monitored. A Supervised Complex Signal Demodulation (SCSD) method configured to suppress amplitude and DC imbalance is also provided for evaluating the physiological signals.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to tracking motion of target in indoor environment. The method includes estimating an initial position of the target in a mesh grid form based on radar data captured from radar devices installed in the indoor environment. For a subsequent target movement, a subsequent position of the target is estimated in the mesh grid form based on the initial position and a resultant velocity vector of the target. A number of outlier grid-points is computed with a threshold number, and based on comparison the outlier grid-points are either replaced with interpolated grid-points or the subsequent position of the target is repaired based on a probable position of the target obtained from at least one of a linear regression based analysis of prior positions of the target, prior knowledge of the target velocity and sampling interval, and a trilateration based technique.

Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to determining a breathing rate and a heart rate from cardiopulmonary signal. Conventional systems use additional hardware to improve signal quality or different signal processing techniques to calculate the heart rate from the cardiopulmonary signal. However accurately determining the heart rate is always a continuous area of an improvement. The present methods and systems solve the problem of determining the heart rate accurately, from the cardiopulmonary signals, by determining the signal quality of the cardiopulmonary signal and the signal associated with the heart rate, comprised in the cardiopulmonary signal. A signal processing technique that best performs, out of a set of signal processing techniques is identified based on the signal quality to determine the heart rate. A long-term and an effective health monitoring of healthy as well as patient and infant subjects is achieved by the present disclosure.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to monitoring of machines having one or more vibrating objects. Conventional systems that address the technical problem of detecting frequency of vibrating objects are expensive, require manual intervention, sometimes depend on prior knowledge of location of faults or involve high convergence time. Systems and methods of the present disclosure provide a cost-effective and fully automated solution that employ multiple strobe sources along with a low cost camera. Besides being cost-effective and automated, the solution also reduces convergence time significantly. Employing multiple strobe sources enables generating multiple strobing frequencies in a single iteration. The strobing frequency is a configured to be a multiple of a camera frame rate selected from a set of camera frame rates having mutually prime elements to ensure faster convergence compared to the art.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to radar based human activity detection, and, more particularly to, systems and methods from radar based human activity detection and three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of human gestures using configurable panel radar system. Traditional systems and methods may not provide for a separate capturing of top and bottom parts of the human body. Embodiment of the present disclosure overcome the limitations faced by the traditional systems and methods by identifying a user that performed a gesture; detecting each gesture performed by the identified user; generating, by simulating a set of gesture labels, a sensor data and the generated metadata, a two-dimensional (2D) reference database of different speeds of the detected gestures; computing a displacement and a time of the detected gestures via a pattern matching technique; and reconstructing a video of the identified user performing the detected gestures in 3D.

Abstract: Energy remains a critical challenge for continuous sensing: with low-capacity batteries, wearable devices require frequent charging. In contrast, installing sensors in everyday ‘smart objects’, such as kitchen cabinets, household appliances and office equipment, supports ADL detection via indirect observations on human interaction with such objects, but cannot provide individual-specific insights in multi-tenanted environments. The embodiments herein provide a method and system for energy efficient activity recognition and behavior analysis. Architecture disclosed utilizes a hybrid mode of inexpensive, battery-free sensing of physical activities performed by a subject been monitored during his Activities for Daily Living (ADLs). The sensing combines object interaction sensing with person-specific wearable sensing to recognize individual activities in smart spaces. The method and system disclosed quantifies a probabilistic approach that uses longitudinal observations of user-item interactions, over each individual episode, to compute the anomalous behavior of the subject.

Abstract: Currently automobiles use embedded sensors and computational powers for performance optimization. For better performance and maintenance knowing driver and driving style is important. It is known that driver identification can be achieved using dedicated sensors. Since these are external sensors they add to cost and also deployment of many sensors increases operational and maintenance overhead. Embodiments of the present disclosure obtain GPS data including trip information pertaining to a vehicle being driven by a driver and features are extracted from trip information which are ranked by comparing these features with features associated with trip information of other drivers to selectively identify and obtain ranked features. Value of each ranked feature is compared with value of corresponding feature pertaining to driving patterns and an abnormality score for each relevant feature is generated and the driver is authenticated based on the abnormality score.

Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to vehicle maintenance and more particularly to methods and systems for automatic vehicle maintenance scheduling. The method comprises obtaining acceleration data at a fixed sampling rate of a moving vehicle when the moving vehicle attains at least a pre-determined speed for a pre-determined time from start of the moving vehicle. The obtained acceleration data is processed to generate jerk energy values at predetermined intervals. Speed normalized jerk energy is computed based on an average of the generated jerk energy values and average speed of the moving vehicle. A relationship between journey number and the computed speed normalized jerk energy is computed. A vehicle maintenance indicator based on the computed relationship between the journey number and the computed speed normalized jerk energy is finally computed.
