Abstract: An OLED is disclosed whose emissive layer has a first host and an emitter, where the emitter is a phosphorescent metal complex or a delayed fluorescent emitter, where EH1T, the T1 triplet energy of the first host, is higher than EET, the T1 triplet energy of the emitter, where EET is at least 2.50 eV, where the LUMO energy of the first host is higher than the HOMO energy of the emitter, where the absolute value of the difference between the HOMO energy of the emitter and the LUMO energy of the first host is ΔE1, where a≤ΔE1−EET≤b; and where a≥0.05 eV, and b≤0.60 eV.

Abstract: Provided is a new composition of matter for phosphorescent emitters containing a chelating ligand including five or more fused carbocyclic or heterocyclic rings that form two bonds to a metal forming a 7-membered chelate. This fused ring structure provides added rigidity to the molecule for enhanced stability in an OLED device and improve photophysical properties.

Abstract: An OLED structure including a first organic layer disposed between the anode and the cathode is disclosed. The first organic layer includes a primary phosphorescent emitter and a first host, and where one of the following conditions is true: (1) the first organic layer further includes a secondary emitter; or (2) the OLED further includes a second organic layer disposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein the second organic layer includes a secondary emitter. The phosphorescent emitter has a peak emission wavelength λmax that is ≥600 nm and ≤750 nm, the secondary emitter has a peak emission wavelength λmax that is ≥750 nm, and the first host has a lowest excited state triplet energy T1 that is at least 0.1 eV higher than that of the primary phosphorescent emitter.
