    摘要： A data transmitting device and method capable of properly managing the content of data recorded on a recording medium and the reproduced information. Clips (a clip information file and a clip AV stream file) and a play list file are recorded on a recording medium or a copy source. The play list and clip files are transferred to a recording medium or a copy destination from the copy source recording medium through an IEEEE digital bus and copied. The arrival time stamp of the TP_extra_header of each source packet of the copied clip AV stream file is the same as that of the copy source. The clip information file and the play list file corresponding to the copied clip AV stream file are also copied to the copy destination. The invention can be applied to, for example, a recorder or reproducer for processing an AV stream.

Pip_horizotal_position indicates, on the frame of a primary video, an X coordinate at the upper left corner of a sub display screen on which a secondary video is displayed. Pip_vertical_position indicates, on the frame of the primary video, a Y coordinate at the upper left corner of the sub display screen on which the secondary video is displayed. Pip_scale states information indicating the size of the sub display screen on which the secondary video is displayed. For example, pip_scale states the size ratio of the secondary video to the primary video, the scale ratio of the secondary video to its original image, or information indicating how many pixels is included in the sub display screen in each of the vertical direction and horizontal direction. The present invention is applicable to playback apparatuses.

A flag that represents whether a play item has a multiple angle structure of which the play item is reproduced with a plurality of angles is described. In addition, a flag that represents whether the beginning of each decode unit is an angle switchable point is described. In a seamless multiple angle structure, the current angle can be switched without need to increase the number of interleave units. In a nonseamless multiple angle structure, with the flag, in a predetermined region on the rear end side of each angle, the current angle is prohibited from being switched. Thus, when a play item exits from the multiple angle, discontinuity in the reproduction can be prevented. In addition, with a flag that represents whether a sub play item should be reproduced not in synchronization with a main path, the sub play item of only audio data can be used as a BGM.
