A hydraulic fluid composition having excellent seal compatibility is prepared from an isomerized base oil is provided. The composition comprising (i) 80 to 99.999 wt. % of a lubricating base oil having consecutive numbers of carbon atoms, less than 10 wt % naphthenic carbon by n-d-M, less than 0.10 wt. % olefins and less than 0.05 wt. % aromatics, a molecular weight of greater than 600 by ASTM D 2503-92 (Reapproved 2002), a wt % total molecules with cycloparaffinic functionality greater than 25 and a ratio of molecules with monocycloparaffinic functionality to molecules with multicycloparaffinic functionality greater than 10; and (ii) optionally from 0.001 to 6 wt % of a viscosity modifier; and (iii) 0-10 wt % of at least an additive package. When used in operations, the composition results in an average volume change in a rubber seal of less than 3% and an average hardness change in the rubber seal of less than 1 pts. when tested under ASTM D 471-06 (SRE NBR1 at 100° C., 168 hours).

A method for recovering hydrocarbons from a reservoir during gas injection into the reservoir comprises at least periodically injecting a gas comprising steam and a foam-forming composition which includes at least one steam foam diversion surfactant into a reservoir which contains at least one multivalent cation. The foam forming composition comprises water, an effective foam-forming amount of the surfactant which preferably comprises an alkyl aromatic sulfonate and a precipitation control additive. This precipitation-control additive preferably comprises an alpha-olefin sulfonate dimer (AOSD). The method further comprises contacting the hydrocarbons in the resevoir with the foam and the gas so as to assist in the recovery of hydrocarbons from the reservoir.

A lubricating oil (made from Group III base oil having a sequential number of carbon atoms) having a VI between 155 and 300, a RPVOT greater than 680 minutes, and a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. from 19.8 cSt to 748 cSt. A lubricating oil having a high VI and high RPVOT comprising: a) a Group III base oil with a sequential number of carbon atoms, and defined cycloparaffin composition or low traction coefficient, b) an antioxidant additive concentrate and c) no VI improver. A process comprising: a) hydroisomerization dewaxing of a waxy feed, b) fractionating the produced base oil, c) selecting a fraction having a VI greater than 150, and a high level of molecules with cycloparaffinic functionality or a low traction coefficient, and d) blending the fraction with an antioxidant additive concentrate. Also, a method of improving the oxidation stability of a lubricating oil.
