The present invention relates generally to ophthamological drugs. More specifically, the invention relates to a method of modifying (derivatizing) ophthamological drugs so as to increase their penetration through the cornea. The invention also relates to drugs modified (derivatized) in accordance with the instant method and to the use of same in treating conditions associated with elevated intraocular pressure, particularly, glaucoma.

A protocol interface is provided for an active message protocol of a computing environment and a client process employing the active message protocol. The protocol interface includes an interface to a header handler function associated with the client process. The interface to the header handler function has parameters to be passed by and a parameter to be returned to the active message protocol when processing a message received through the active message protocol. The parameters to be passed include current message state information and current message type information for the received message. These parameters facilitate message-specific decisions by the header handler function about processing data of the message by the active message protocol. The parameter to be returned to the active message protocol instructs the active message protocol how to process the received message other than just where to store the message.

The present invention provides a method for creating a specific segment during broadcasting program. Firstly, sending a program to an user terminal; then receiving a request of an user from the user terminal, which requests to create a specific segment, wherein the specific segment is part of the broadcasting program; finally creating the specific segment according to the request. Furthermore, the invention can also send the created specific segment to the user terminal. The invention solves the problem that the choice standard for the specific segment specified by the broadcasting program supplier/the program producer does not meet the real requirement of the users, thereby the users can obtain their required specific segments during watching program to satisfy their individual needs.

Disclosed herein is a roll profile for work rolls for both shape control and free ruled rolling. Each of the work rolls has a tapered end. Providing starting point of the tapered end of the rolls being origin of coordinates, the curve of respective tapered end is a quartic curve represented by a formula y(x)=a0+a1x+a2x2+a3x3+a4x4, xε[0,Le], y(x)ε[0,He]. Because the transition between the tapered end and the roll body is smooth, asymmetric deformation due to the difference between abrasion of the upper and lower rolls is eliminated, which reducing wedged shape of strip and reducing unstable rolling due to asymmetrical strip stresses caused by the axial shifting of the roll. Further, as the axial shifting of the work roll is represented by Shift=B/2+Le−Se−Lw/2 so that box shaped abrasion of conventional roll is eliminated and closed type abrasion of conventional roll is changed into open type abrasion, which averaging the abrasion of the rolls, eliminating “cat ear” hole, achieving flat roll type rolling, and fulfilling the equipment of free ruled rolling.

A method for producing low-PMD fiber, in which a glass fiber is drawn from an optical fiber perform by a tractor which pulls such optical fiber from said perform; subsequent to said tractor pulling the fiber is twisted about its axis to increase the magnitude of twist which is imparted to said fiber. The fiber is then wound onto a fiber storage spool such that at least a portion of the twist imparted to said optical fiber is retained while said fiber is wound on said spool.
