Abstract: A processing system may receive an example image for use in querying a collection of digital images. The processing system may use local and global feature descriptors to perform a content-based image comparison of the digital images with the example image, to automatically rank the digital images with respect to similarity to the example image. A local feature descriptor may represent a portion of the contents of a digital image. A global feature descriptor may represent substantially all of the contents of that digital image. The global feature descriptor may be content based, not keyword based. Intermediate and final classifiers may be used to perform the automatic ranking. Different intermediate classifiers may generate intermediate relevance metrics with respect to different modalities. The final classifier may use results from the intermediate classifiers to produce a final relevance metric for the digital images. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: The invention describes systems and methods of assessing risk using a computer. A computer-based system including an enrollment module, a data aggregation module, a risk assessment module, and a memory is provided for assessing risks. The enrollment receives, at a computer, personal information regarding at least one entity. The data aggregation module receives, at the computer, risk information regarding the entity according to the personal information from at least one data source. The risk assessment module converts the risk information to assessment information. The memory stores the personal information, the risk information, and/or the assessment information on the computer.

Abstract: The invention relates to a receiving unit in a wireless communication network comprising a processing unit being configured to generate Automatic Repeat request (ARQ) feed-back messages for acknowledgement or negative acknowledgement of received data units in a wireless communication channel. In order to avoid signalling overhead, it is proposed that said processing unit is further configured to delay the generation of Automatic Repeat request (ARQ) feedback messages until the processing unit has recognized irregularities in the data transmission or until the number (C) of delayed Automatic Repeat request (ARQ) feedback messages has reached a threshold value.

Abstract: An image retrieval program (IRP) may be used to query a collection of digital images. The IRP may include a mining module to use local and global feature descriptors to automatically rank the digital images in the collection with respect to similarity to a user-selected positive example. Each local feature descriptor may represent a portion of an image based on a division of that image into multiple portions. Each global feature descriptor may represent an image as a whole. A user interface module of the IRP may receive input that identifies an image as the positive example. The user interface module may also present images from the collection in a user interface in a ranked order with respect to similarity to the positive example, based on results of the mining module. Query concepts may be saved and reused. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A method for routing wires in an integrated circuit includes defining an even number n of initial width routing tracks in a selected routing channel. The n initial routing tracks are separated by a substantially equal first separation distance from the other routing tracks, Vss and Vdd in the routing channel. The n initial width routing tracks and the first separation distance have an initial width about equal to the minimum design width. An odd number of routing tracks less than n are then selected, the odd number of routing tracks have a second pitch greater than the first pitch, assigning the odd number of routing tracks in the routing channel. A third routing pitch can be defined that is wider than the second routing pitch for alternating routing tracks at the odd number of routing tracks if needed. A wire routing system in an integrated circuit is also described.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for ontology-based classification of media content are provided. With the method and apparatus, initial confidence values of classifiers in a hierarchical classification structure are modified based on relationships between classifiers. A confidence value for a classifier is boosted by a boosting factor based on a correspondence between the confidence value and confidence values of ancestor classifiers in the hierarchical classification structure. A confidence value for a classifier is modified by a confusion factor based on a correspondence between the confidence value of the classifier and the confidence values of mutually exclusive classifiers in the hierarchical classification structure. In this way, a more accurate representation of the actual confidence that media content falls within the classification associated with the classifier is obtained. From this improved classification mechanism, indices for media content may be generated for use in accessing the media content at a later time.
