摘要: A method of deliveries data and to a mobile node for receiving data delivered from a packet-switched data network. A first registration of the mobile node is performed to a first network of a first access technology, and an additional second registration of the mobile node is performed to a second network of a second access technology by using an address associated with the mobile node in said first network. An interface of the mobile node towards the second network is deactivated and the mobile node is set into an idle mode of the first network. When an incoming signaling of the first network is received at the mobile node, it is used as a trigger for activating the interface to the second network. Thereby, efficient data delivery via the second access technology, for example, WLAN technology, is allowed to bring down the communications charges and yet cellular efficient power consumption is achieved in idle mode, by camping on the first access technology, for example, cellular technology.

摘要: A method and apparatus for packet-data header decompression, particularly advantageous for use in connection with broadcast and multicast messages being transported through a radio telecommunication system operable according to the CDMA 2000 standard. When a mobile subscriber desires broadcast content from a content server, the mobile station sets up a PPP session for submitting the request and negotiating security protocols. When a subscription is granted, the mobile station receives broadcast content that has undergone header compression. In order to synchronize its decompressor, the mobile station receives a full header from a PDSN. The full header is preferably sent out on a periodic basis just for this purpose. The frequency of full-header transmissions by the PDSN is increased from a normal mode to a high full-header frequency (HFHF) mode upon receiving a request for a full header from a mobile station, but returns to normal-mode full-header transition frequency after receiving an ACK message from the requesting mobile indicating successful decompressor synchronization, or upon the expiration of a predetermined HFHF-mode maximum duration.

摘要: A method includes connecting a mobile router (MR), also referred to herein as a gateway mobile terminal, of a mobile network (MONET) to an access point (AP) of an access network (AN) that includes an Access Router (AR); making a request to obtain a plurality of link addresses from a link address manager of the AN; allocating individual ones of the plurality of link addresses to individual ones of network nodes of the MONET; and performing a neighbor discovery procedure with the AR to send at least one neighbor advertisement to declare the allocated individual ones of the assigned plurality of link addresses. In one embodiment the request is made to obtain a set of link layer addresses (LLAs) that are allocated to individual ones of the network nodes, while in another embodiment the request is made to obtain a group identification (Group_ID) that is used to formulate a set of LLAs that are allocated to individual ones of the network nodes. The LLAs can be passed through the gateway mobile terminal to the individual network nodes, if the MONET signaling allows, or the gateway mobile terminal can map the LLAs to hardwired addresses of individual ones of the network nodes.

摘要: A “loose ACK” method by which a radio access network of a cellular network monitors wireless transmission of packets according to a layered protocol including a radio layer (near the physical layer) and an upper layer, the method including: a step (23) of slow release—in what is called normal buffer management—in which the upper layer removes from a buffer maintained by the upper layer the oldest packet in the buffer when the buffer is full and a new packet arrives, and does so independently of whether the packet being removed has been acknowledged by the radio layer of the terminal; and a step (24) of local acknowledgement in which the radio layer sends an acknowledgement to the upper layer on the occurrence of a predetermined event. The local acknowledgement can trigger either special mode buffer management or release of the buffer to a target (entity or layer).

摘要: A method for scheduling data packets from a plurality of flows into a single flow. Data packets are broken into data segments and assigned a slack value based on how long the segment can wait until transmission begins. Every time a transmission opportunity passes, the slack value of the segment is decreased. The scheduler prioritizes the segments based on their slack value.

摘要: The link layer (68, 64) of the sending end of a wireless link (66) is enhanced (10, 74) by providing a mechanism for discriminating (36, 38; 79, 82) between special, critical or otherwise important packets from among a plurality of packets send over the wireless link. Special link layer treatment (42; 89) is accorded to such special, critical or otherwise important packets, while the remaining packets are subjected to normal link layer treatment (44; 86) before transmission over the wireless link.
