摘要: A stretch-activated elastic composite includes a non-woven fabric having a potential elongatability of higher than 100% in a predetermined direction, and an elastically recoverable, elastic sheet. The elastic sheet in its unstretched state is partially bonded to the non-woven fabric in its unelongated state. The elastic composite exhibits, per unit width of 5 cm, (1) a stress of lower than 1000 g at 30% stretch, (2) a stress of higher than 400 g at 100% stretch, (3) a breaking point of higher than 400 g and (4) an elastic limit of higher than 200%. The elastic composite after being stretched at a rate of lower than 200% exhibits, per unit width of 5 cm, (1) a stress of lower than 500 g at 30% stretch and (2) a stress of higher than 100 g at 100% stretch. The elastic composite after three repeated cycles of 150% stretching and relaxing exhibits an elastic recovery rate of higher than 60%. The elastic composite of the present invention provides excellent performance in elastic recovery, is soft to the touch, and is best utilized in elasticizing an article portion which is brought into direct contact with human skin.

摘要: An absorbent article incorporating a main body which has a waist hole and a pair of leg holes, and comprises a topsheet positioned in a facing relation to a wearer's body, a backsheet positioned opposite thereto, and an absorbent core interposed between the backsheet and the topsheet. The topsheet is a composite which comprises two layers of sheet material and two elastic members sandwiched between the two sheets of material. The topsheet further has communicating means disposed in a crotch region of the absorbent article for receiving body exudates. The communicating means is surrounded by the elastic members which form leg gathers, and serves as a passage to communicate body exudates to a space defined between the topsheet and the backsheet. The absorbent article of the present invention can provide excellent flexibility, a snug fit and comfort to a wearer during use, while effectively preventing leakage from the leg gathers.

摘要: Process and apparatus for producing apertured or non-apertured nonwoven fabric wherein fibrous web is introduced onto support means and treated with high velocity water streams jetted from above. The non-apertured nonwoven fabric may be produced by fiber entangling treatment on a smooth surfaced plate including a plurality of drainage holes as first support means or by further fiber entangling treatment performed on water impermeable second support means after the fiber entangling treatment performed on the first support means. The apertured nonwoven fabric may be produced by, after the fiber entangling treatment on the first support means, using, instead of the second support means, another second support means consisting of a smooth surfaced plate provided with a plurality of projections and drainage holes so that individual fibers of the fibrous web are deflected by water streams jetted from above the fibrous web aside towards zones of the surface defined by each pair of adjacent projections while entangling these individual fibers with each other.
