    摘要: A bicycle cleat assembly is provided for attachment to a shoe and for cooperating with a step-in bicycle pedal thereto via a cleat. The cleat has a central attachment portion, a front attachment portion and a rear attachment portion. The front and rear attachment portions both have a pair of coupling surfaces that hold the cleat above the pedal body of the pedal. The rear attachment portion has a protrusion or projection that extends outwardly from the rear edge and wide coupling surfaces with cleat guide elements or surfaces. The pedal body preferably has a pair clamping members pivotally coupled thereto. Each clamping member has a front cleat engagement portion and a rear cleat engagement portion for engaging the cleat. The front and rear cleat engagement portions of the clamping members are designed to hold to cleat above the upper support surface of the pedal body. The rear cleat engagement portion is designed to pivot rearwardly upon a twisting movement between the cleat and the pedal body. The rear cleat engagement portion of each clamping member has a central portion and two side portions. The side portions have cleat guide surfaces or elements that engage complimentary cleat guide surfaces or elements of the cleat. The central portion has a curved stop surface that engages the central protrusion or projection formed on the rear end of the cleat.

The bicycle pedal has a pedal body rotatably coupled to the second end of the pedal shaft for supporting a cyclist's foot. The pedal body preferably has a pair of clamping members pivotally coupled thereto. A biasing member is coupled between the pedal body and each of the clamping members. An adjustment mechanism is provided for each clamping member to vary the biasing force of the respective biasing member. A cover is coupled to each of the clamping members to substantially enclose the biasing members between the clamping members and the covers. A gap adjustment mechanism is provided to control the gap between the sole of the shoe and the upper support surface of the pedal body. The front cleat engagement surface of each of the clamping members is designed to hold the cleat above the upper support surface of the pedal body.

    摘要: A snowboard binding is provided for releasably connecting a boot to a snowboard. One embodiment of the invention includes inner and outer main bodies to receive a two-piece cleat. A second embodiment includes inner and outer hooks for hooking, and a latch for securing, a one-piece cleat. A third embodiment includes a front main body and a spring-loaded latch in a rear main body for engaging a one-piece cleat. A fourth embodiment engages a one-piece cleat with inwardly beveled, semi-circular inner and outer main bodies. A fifth embodiment engages a one-piece cleat with a front main body and a latch, fixedly mounted upon an axle, within a rear main body. The latch is biased toward the engaged position by a spring. In a sixth embodiment of the invention, a one-piece cleat is engaged with a front main body and two rear spring biased latches. In a seventh embodiment, among other things, the cleat is formed in two pieces.

    摘要: A low profile bicycle pedal having a pedal body supported by a pedal shaft to be rotatably about an axis of the pedal shaft and at a least pair of clamping members attached to the pedal body for releasably coupling a cleat of a cyclist's shoe thereto. Preferably, at least one of the clamping members is pivotally coupled to the pedal body. The cleat has a substantially C-shape with a pair of attachment portions for coupling the cleat to the cyclist's shoe, and connecting portion for interconnecting the attachment portions together. The attachment portions and the connecting portions form a pedal shaft receiving notch for accommodating the pedal shaft when coupled to the pedal body. In the first embodiment, the pedal body is provided with a friction adjusting mechanism for selectively increasing and/or decreasing friction between the cleat and the pedal body. In the second embodiment, a pair of substantially identical clamping members are pivotally coupled to the pedal body, with each clamping member having front and rear cleat engaging surfaces.
