摘要： Cloud cover information over a selected portion of the earth, such as that obtained from a satellite (10) is converted into digital form and stored in a picture memory RAM (40). The memory can be interrogated and displayed on a television monitor (100) or transmitted by a television station (110). Geographical information, such as the location of water bodies and land masses, stored in a map memory ROM (50), and this memory is interrogated at the same time as the picture memory to generate a color subcarrier which is added to the video from the picture memory. The hue of the combined picture is varied according to the intensity of the video signal from the picture memory by means of a combinational logic circuit (60). The combined black and white video from the picture memory RAM and the color subcarrier generated by the map memory ROM will provide a composite video signal with water bodies represented by a color different from the color representing land masses and where the intensity of the color generated will be an inverse function of the intensity of the video signal.

摘要： A fireplace heat exchanger grate comprising an inlet manifold, an outlet manifold and a plurality of heat exchanger tubes or pipes providing communication between the inlet and outlet manifolds. First and second duct sections are in open communication respectively with the inlet and outlet manifolds. A low-profile connector duct section extends across the front of the fireplace in open communication with both the first and second duct sections. The connector duct section includes an internal baffle between its connections to the first and second duct sections. A blower is connected to a first end of the connector duct section. Flow from the blower is directed by the baffle into the first duct section, through the inlet manifold, the heat exchanger tubes and the outlet manifold to the second duct section and outwardly through exhaust vents in the connector duct section on the downstream side of the internal baffle. The connections between the inlet manifold and the first duct section and between the outlet manifold and second duct section are telescopic to permit the heat exchanger to be adjusted to accommodate varying depths of fireplaces. The first and second duct sections are removably attached to the connector duct section so that the connector duct section can be positioned in either of two relative orientations in front of the fireplace and the blower is designed to permit it to be positioned in either of two relative orientations.

摘要： A video recorder and playback system for storing video information consisting of video frames successively presented at a standard frame rate, each frame having first and second interlaced video fields, and for playing back the video information in a desired sequence to produce a video output signal, providing either slow motion or normal motion effects when viewed on a monitor, includes a frame recorder. The frame recorder has a rotatable recording medium, first and second transducer means for recording and playing back video frames in recording tracks on the recording medium, and means for rotating the medium at the standard frame rate such that a video frame is recorded in each of the recording tracks. A field store is responsive to the recorder for storing a field of video information replayed from the recorder. A switch is connected to a field store and to the recorder for providing at the switch output video information from the field store or the recorder in response to a delay field signal. The switch changes switching state and the transducer means are stepped to provide at the switch output replayed video information in the same sequence in which it was recorded or, alternatively, in a sequence different from that in which it was recorded, with the sequence of fields within the frames properly ordered for interlace. The video recorder system also includes a circuit providing a cue display signal on a video monitor which is indicative of the progression of the transducer means to successive tracks during both recording and playback.

One end of a first pipe is enlarged to an increased diameter to form a female portion into which one end of a second pipe is received. A tubular sleeve is inserted into said first pipe and connected thereto as by welding. The sleeve and the female portion together define an annular, axially elongated and radially narrow passage receiving said one end of said second pipe. The first and second pipes and the sleeve are together placed in a die, and the overlapping ends are spun radially outwardly by an internal, expansible arbor or the like to form a generally spherical, interlocking pipe ball joint.

摘要： A disc recorder having a single magnetic pick-up and record head and having a magnetic disc, rotating at the frame rate of a video signal, records and provides for display of a single frame from a video signal consisting of a series of video frames. Motion jitter is eliminated by recording on the disc recorder one of the two fields which make up a chosen video frame and then reproducing this field. The reproduced field signal is then stored and rerecorded onto the magnetic disc at a position relative to the original field recording corresponding to the delay between two interlaced fields. A memory having less capacity than that required for storing a complete field signal is used with only a portion of a field being reproduced, stored and rerecorded during each rotation of the magnetic disc. A complete video frame is thus recorded, ready for display, in which the two interlaced fields are identical.
