    摘要: To wind a rubber strip material around a forming drum, a rubber strip material S extruded from a die 2 of an extruder 1 is spirally wound by an applicator 6 and formed around the forming drum 5 which is being rotated. In the forming operation, the peripheral speed Vd of the forming drum 5 is set lower than the extrusion speed Ve of the rubber strip material S from the die 2 of the extruder 1, that is, to a peripheral speed of 0.6 to 0.95 times the extrusion speed Ve and preferably to a peripheral speed about 0.9 times the extrusion speed Ve. With this arrangement, the rubber strip material stretched by die swelling can be contracted, a tire structural member can be formed around the forming drum with high accuracy at all times independently of the kind of the rubber strip material, and workability as well as shape stability after the rubber strip material is formed can be enhanced.

    摘要: A strip builder for winding a material strip about a rotating core includes a traveling applicator head assembly for receipt of the material strip from an upstream extruder station and transport of the strip to a downstream rotating core. The assembly includes a central support arm in longitudinal travel along the rotating core. Attached to the central support arm is a belt roller, an applicator roller spaced therefrom and a belt drive coupled therebetween. A conveyor belt is wound about the belt roller. Upon rotation of the core, the rotation of the applicator roller rotates the belt roller coupled thereto. Rotation of the belt roller drives the conveyor belt towards the core with the material strip thereon. Upon the belt passing between the belt roller and displaced applicator roller, the strip is stretched and deposited onto the applicator roller for subsequent deposit onto the rotating core. A traveling stitching roller subsequently smoothes the material strip deposited on the rotating core. The applicator and stretching rollers are pivotable relative to the central support arm such that pressure along the central support arm can be equally distributed to the applicator and stretching rollers and onto the rotating core.

A lapping margin between the winding start end and the winding finish end of the strip member is calculated based on the rotational angle and diameter of the building drum by means of an operational means.

    摘要: In a method for automatically applying cut strips of material with varying lengths onto a tire building drum for manufacturing green tires a cut strip of material, comprising a forward portion with a leading edge, a middle section, and an end portion, is fed with a conveyor belt to a tire building drum. The leading edge of the forward portion is placed onto the tire building drum, being rotated at a first circumferential speed, that is substantially identical to a first feeding speed of the conveyor belt, during application of the forward portion. The first circumferential speed of the tire building drum is increased to a second constant circumferential speed for applying the middle section. Simultaneously, the first feeding speed of the end less conveyor belt is increased to a second feeding speed which is controlled as a function of the actual length of the cut strip of material. The second constant circumferential speed is reduced to a third circumferential speed and the second feeding speed is reduced to a third feeding speed, that is substantially identical to the third circumferential speed, for applying the end portion.
