摘要： A machine and method for applying a tread to a carcass of a tire; the machine has a rotary drum supporting the carcass, a feed conveyor for feeding the tread to the rotary drum, a pressure roller contacting the tread, an actuating device for pushing the pressure roller against the tread with a force of adjustable intensity, and a control unit for regulating the intensity of the force as a function of an error variable calculated as the difference between the length of the remaining portion of the circumference of the carcass, and the length of the remaining portion of the tread; and the control unit regulates the intensity of the force by means of a proportional control block having a gain varying as a function of the value of the error variable and as a function of the rate of change of the error variable.

摘要： A strip builder for winding a material strip about a rotating core includes a traveling applicator head assembly for receipt of the material strip from an upstream extruder station and transport of the strip to a downstream rotating core. The assembly includes a central support arm in longitudinal travel along the rotating core. Attached to the central support arm is a belt roller, an applicator roller spaced therefrom and a belt drive coupled therebetween. A conveyor belt is wound about the belt roller. Upon rotation of the core, the rotation of the applicator roller rotates the belt roller coupled thereto. Rotation of the belt roller drives the conveyor belt towards the core with the material strip thereon. Upon the belt passing between the belt roller and displaced applicator roller, the strip is stretched and deposited onto the applicator roller for subsequent deposit onto the rotating core. A traveling stitching roller subsequently smoothes the material strip deposited on the rotating core. The applicator and stretching rollers are pivotable relative to the central support arm such that pressure along the central support arm can be equally distributed to the applicator and stretching rollers and onto the rotating core.

摘要： A strip member is wound by a tire building machine having a building drum for taking up a strip member of predetermined length without discrete ends and a transfer conveyor for feeding the strip member to the building drum. The winding-start end of the strip member transferred from the transfer conveyor to the building drum and the winding-finish end of the strip member are detected by means of end sensors, measuring the angle through which the building drum has rotated from the output of a winding start signal to the output of a winding finish signal in response to output signals from the sensors by means of an angle detector. A lapping margin between the winding start end and the winding finish end of the strip member is calculated based on the rotational angle and diameter of the building drum by means of an operational means.

The tread band has a shorter length before its application onto the tire carcass than its length following the application thereof onto the tire carcass. A tension force is exerted on the tread band via at least one clamp clamped on the rearward end of the tread band to produce thereby a constant tension in the tread band.

Cross-sectional areas of the strip are deformed relative to one another perpendicular to the conveying direction, whereby the cross-sectional areas extend perpendicular to the conveying direction and are sequentially arranged in the conveying direction, such that the cross-sectional areas each have one side delimiting one side of the strip, that form together an edge of the strip. The edge extends parallel to the conveying direction and remains parallel to the conveying direction until the strip reaches the processing device. A device for performing the method includes a straightening device for straightening the lateral limiting edge of the strip conveyed on the conveying table.

摘要： A method of attaching a belt-like member being transferred by a conveyor to a circumference of a drum comprises steps of detecting a leading end and a trailing end of the belt-like member, respectively, transferring the belt-like member by the conveyor until the leading end of the member arrives at a leading end set position, and further transferring the belt-like member and rotating the drum to attach the belt-like member to the circumference of the drum so that at the same time when the leading end of the belt-like member attached to the drum arrives at a set rotated position, the trailing end of the belt-like member arrives at a trailing end set position spaced a predetermined distance from a trailing end detected position where the trailing end was detected in the first step, thereby jointing the leading and trailing ends. In this manner, the belt-like member is attached uniformly on the drum to compensate any excess and shortage in length of the belt-like member relative to a circumferential length of the drum. If the belt-like member has leading and trailing ends bias to longitudinal directions of the member, the belt-like member is transferred at a speed substantially equal to a circumferential speed of the drum only during attaching the bias leading and trailing ends to the drum to avoid deformations of the leading and trailing ends.

摘要： An apparatus joins opposite ends of a tread on a rotary drum in a tire making machine. Besides the rotary drum, the apparatus includes a conveyor having two lateral endless loops and a guide in the form of rollers interposed between the loops. The conveyor is disposed upstream of the rotary drum. Clamping mechanisms are provided to clamp the respective sides of the tread at a rear end thereof to the endless loops of the conveyor, respectively. A tread placed on the endless loops of the conveyor is maintained in relative position by the guide. The actual length of the tread on the conveyor is measured. The front end of the tread is adhered to the rotary drum and the opposite sides of the tread at the rear end thereof are clamped to the conveyor. The conveyor and drum are then driven at appropriate speeds based on the length of the tread to cause the ends thereof to be joined on the drum. Movable grippers can be provided to stretch the rear end of the tread at the sides thereof into abutment with the front end.
