Abstract:
Disclosed are a folding wheel and a portable appliance. The folding wheel includes: a wheel body, wherein the wheel body include two wheel plates that can be spliced with each other, and a notched area is formed therebetween when the two wheel plates are spliced with each other; a first connecting element disposed in the notched area; a first slide rail mechanism, at least part of which is disposed on the first connecting element, and remaining parts of which are disposed on respective wheel plates, wherein the first slide rail mechanism includes a first rail groove and a first rotating shaft inserted into the first rail groove, such that the two wheel plates can be spliced with or separated from each other along the first rail groove via the first rotating shaft, and can be flipped relative to the first connecting element via the first rotating shaft; the folding wheel is foldable, wherein when the two wheel plates are pulled away from each other, the two wheel plates slide away from each other along the first rail groove. The two wheels may be flipped, wherein when the two wheel plates are folded towards each other, the portable appliance with reduced folded size facilitates the user to pack or carry.

Abstract:
A transformable wheel module is disclosed. The transformable wheel module comprises: a plurality of lobes; and a mode switching unit for switching modes between a first traveling mode in which the lobes are coupled in a ring shape and a second traveling mode in which the lobes are separated from each other, wherein the mode switching unit can include: a first rotary link; a second rotary link positioned on the same rotational axis as the first rotary link; a plurality of first connecting links for individually connecting the first rotary link and the lobes; a plurality of second connecting links for individually connecting the second rotary link and the lobes; a first driving motor for rotating the first rotary link; and a second driving motor for rotating the second rotary link.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a foldable wheel defined about an axis of rotation of the wheel, which includes a closed loop made up of at least two links and, each link being substantially in the shape of a ring sector of section as defined in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the wheel that in the shape of a trapezoid including two non-parallel faces and, a major base, and a minor base; a unit for mounting the links and to pivot about a pivot axis, including a bearing having two portions and, respectively a pivot pin and a rotary housing, the pin being pivotally mounted in the pivot housing, the male and female bearing portions and being at two points situated in the proximity of the apex of the V-shape, the V-shape being defined by the shape formed by the two facing non-parallel faces of the two links.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a variable-diameter wheel including a wheel having a folding pattern in which a unit cell is repeated and configured to be expanded or contracted so that a wheel diameter is varied; a spoke fixedly coupled to both longitudinal ends of the wheel and configured to be expanded or contracted according to a change in a distance between both sides, such that the wheel diameter is varied; and a variable induction shaft rotatably coupled with one of the both spokes to move the spoke in at least one lengthwise direction and configured to vary a distance between one spoke and the other spoke.
Abstract:
A method for producing designs involves receiving a request to create a design on the surface of an extraterrestrial body, transmitting a control signal to a device on a vehicle on the extraterrestrial body, the control signal causing the device to create the design, and receiving an image signal providing an image of the design created on the surface. A device for producing the designs includes a surface altering tool configured to rearrange material on the surface. The tool may be provided as a configurable-tread rover wheel that includes a wheel hub having radially-extending channels, and tread elements supported in the channels that are selectively articulatable under the control of a control module to form a tread pattern corresponding to a design intended to be produced. The tread elements may be selectively extended or retracted by operation of an array of solenoids controlled by the control module.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a foldable wheel which can greatly reduce its size and be carried conveniently, comprising: an extendable hub including a first end and a second end, wherein the distance between the first end and the second end may be changed by adjusting the extendable hub; a plurality of extendable spokes each including a first extendable portion and a second extendable portion, wherein the first extendable portion connects with the first end of the extendable hub and the second extendable portion connects with the second end of the extendable hub, and the first extendable portion connects with the second extendable portion by a first connector; and a plurality of the second connectors connected with the plurality of extendable spokes for connecting to a rim.
Abstract:
A solid vacuum wheel and tire assembly incorporating a vacuum to adhere a solid tire in place against a wheel rim, allowing for safe and reliable operation. The assembly incorporates a flexible solid tire core which contracts into place after a vacuum is applied, contracting and adhering directly onto the wheel rim and filling a void between the rim and tire, having no air pressure to go flat or release if punctured. Vacuum channels installed along the wheel rim direct a vacuum seal to the tire core. A vacuum valve is installed into a vacuum chamber, which acts as a conduit to direct the vacuum throughout the assembly. The solid tire incorporates a possible concave shaped tire tread configuration, tire tread rubber and a steel belt. The solid tire core material comprising of solid or porous rubber, jell or a combination of each provides a solid flexible non-pneumatic core structure.
Abstract:
A collapsible wheel includes a rim formed of a number of arched rim elements pivotally connected into an endless series, a connector with a shaft for connection to a golf bag carrier, pushcart or baby cart, a hub sleeved onto the shaft of the connector, first spokes each having one end connected to the rim and the other end for stopping against the periphery of the hug, and second spokes each having an outer spoke segment connected to the rim and an inner spoke segment that has one end hinged to the outer spoke segment and the other end hinged to the hub.
