摘要: An explosive action inhibiting glazing formed of at least two glass units supported in separate frames. The frames define an intervening space therebetween. The space is connected to the environment external of the outer pane by passages which are either open or which are readily opened to permit the rapid reduction of pressure in the space between the frames. The passages leading to the space may be covered by snap-fitted sections intended to blast clear and open the passage responsive to pressure increases within the space between the frames.

摘要: A projectile barrier comprising a plurality of spaced sheets of tough resilient plastic material, adjacent pairs of said sheets having interposed between them strips of resilient plastic material extending around the periphery thereof and sealed to said sheets to provide a hermetically sealed enclosure between the sheets, said enclosure being filled with air or other inert dry gas, said barrier functioning to resist penetration by bullets or other projectiles by virtue of the energy absorbing properties of the gas-filled chambers formed between the plastic sheets in addition to the inherent toughness of the sheets themselves. The structure also has advantages as a light-weight acoustic barrier for the attenuation of sound waves.

摘要: A tornado shelter and having a reinforced monolithic construction resulting from a single pour of concrete is described herein. Rebar extends upwardly from a base. The rebar is encased in concrete that forms the walls of the shelter. An upper portion of the rebar extend above a top surface of each of the walls. The upper portion of each of said rods are bent inwards and are also encased in the single pour of concrete for strengthening a ceiling portion of the shelter. A door, in-wall conduits, vent orifices and attached benches may also be provided.

摘要: Composite door systems are provided for use in a protective barrier structure. The composite door systems provide for quick assembly, safety, security, and resistance to physical impacts or threats. The composite door systems may include a shell and a core that can be factory completed or finished on site. The shell may be shipped to the assembly location of the barrier structure, and the core may be formed on site by pouring liquid fill material into a cavity of the shell, which is allowed to cure into a solid fill material. Hardware housings may be operatively coupled to the shell that are made to receive door hardware but resist the liquid full material from filling the hardware housings. The shell, core, and/or hardware housings may provide resistance to damage, such as projectiles to provide enhanced security protection to the occupants or contents of the building structure.

摘要: A building security assembly includes a vestibule that may be attached to an entrance of an institution and the vestibule has an entrance and an exit. A first door is hingedly coupled to the vestibule to open and close the entrance. A second door is hingedly coupled to the vestibule to open and close the exit. A metal detection array is positioned within the vestibule to detect metal components of a firearm. A security unit is coupled to the vestibule and is in electrical communication with the metal detection array. The security unit locks each of the first and second doors when the metal detection array detects the metal components of the firearm to inhibit the individual from bringing the firearm into the institution.
