摘要: A ballistic garage door assembly and a kit for converting a standard garage door uses sheets of ballistic material secured to the exterior shell of the standard garage door panels along with inserts at the joints between adjacent garage door panels. Joint inserts applied to the horizontal ends of the garage door panels provide bullet resistant characteristics at the joints. Aluminum sheets with multiple plies of ballistic material between the aluminum sheets are applied to the entire garage door shell. Insulated foam is place on the innermost aluminum sheet to provide additional ballistic performance for the converted garage door. Increased levels of ballistic protection will utilize thicker aluminum panels and an additional external ballistic bumper to increase ballistic performance of the joints between the garage door panels. The outward aesthetic appearance of the garage door does not change appreciably, although a door lift with greater horsepower may be required.

摘要: An impact-resistant, photovoltaic (IRPV) window system is provided. The system may include an IRPV window coupled to a structure, a controller, and an insurance computing device. The IRPV window may include an impact resistant (IR) layer, a photovoltaic (PV) material that may generate an electrical output, and an electrode coupled to the PV material that may receive the electrical output. The IRPV window may permit a portion of visible light to pass through the IRPV window. The controller may monitor the electrical output and generate a solar profile of the structure based upon the electrical output. The insurance computing device may receive the solar profile and determine if an insurance policy associated with the structure is eligible for a policy adjustment and/or an insurance reward or discount offer.

摘要: The present sliding security door system includes a sliding security door extending between an upper track and a lower track. Separate motive and locking assemblies drive and secure the door, respectively. A control assembly in the system is capable of separately activating motive and locking effectors to allow for separate movement and locking/unlocking of the door. Because of this, the system is compact and capable of deployment in otherwise too-small spaces.

摘要: An innovative ballistic door is disclosed that is destined for use in schools, offices and building structures. The innovative door comprises a hybrid ballistic core, comprising at least two sections, wherein one section is a heavy impact resistant material rated to NIJ level III strength to resist rounds fired from high-powered rifles, as well as resisting breaches from explosive devices such as pipe bombs and the like. AR500 steel plate having a thickness of ¼ inch meets this requirement. The remaining sections of the innovative ballistic hybrid core comprise at least one lighter-weight ballistic sheet material, such as E Glass fiber composite sheet, which at least comply with the NIJ level IIIA standard. This E Glass material is ideally suited to resist the impact of a pipe bomb explosion. The novel ballistic core construction allows a compromise between protective and practical weight requirements. In addition, the innovative ballistic door provides for substantial anti-breach protection of the latch and lock mechanism and hinges.
