    摘要: A technique facilitates drilling in a wide variety of applications and environments. The technique utilizes a coiled tubing bottom hole assembly constructed with a sensor system that provides the ability to steer a borehole within a reservoir. An orienter is connected to a top end of the bottom hole assembly to provide rotational movement of the bottom hole assembly. The orienter can be designed to provide continuous and bidirectional rotational movement of the coiled tubing bottom hole assembly. A telemetry system is provided to enable high data rate telemetry between the orienter and a surface location as well as communication between the bottom hole assembly and the orienter.

    摘要: An apparatus for deflecting a tubular string preferably comprising at least one side nozzle near the lower end of a first tubular string. The nozzle permits passage of a fluid therethrough from the first tubular string bore and deflects the first tubular string in a substantially horizontal direction. A second tubular string may be lowered over the deflected first tubular string. The second tubular string and the first tubular string are preferably lowered into the sea floor for maintaining their deflection. A method for deflecting a first tubular string and securing the first tubular string in the deflected state preferably comprises lowering the first tubular string axially so that the lower end of the first tubular string is near the sea floor. Preferably, a fluid, such as seawater, is propelled down through the bore of the first tubular string and through at least one side nozzle near the lower end of the first tubular, wherein the fluid moving through the side nozzle deflects the first tubular string. The first tubular string end is preferably lowered into the sea floor for maintaining the deflection of the first tubular string. A second tubular string may then be slidably lowered over the first tubular string for deflecting the second tubular string.

    摘要: An underwater well system in which an initially vertical drilling riser conduit is fixed by a template at the seabed in a non-vertical orientation. Drilling is carried out through wellhead in the template which also includes a valve tree allowing the production fluid to be brought to the surface along a line separate from the drilling riser conduit. The template may be a junction template allowing several wells to be drilled from a single template, or allowing the template to be connected by one or more drilling conduits to further templates such that a wide area of the seabed can be covered for a single drilling riser conduit.

    摘要: A method for replacing an old drive pipe in a slot on an offshore platform. The old drive pipe is first cut to provide an upper portion and a stub portion which remains firmly embedded in said marine bottom. Next, a guide cable is affixed to the stub portion of the old drive pipe and extends to the platform. The upper portion is then retrieved to the surface. A new drive pipe which carries a whipstock at its lower end is then made-up and lowered over the guide cable until the whipstock engages the stub portion where the new drive pipe is then diverted by the whipstock into a different path from that of the old drive pipe.

    摘要: A facility or platform (11) having a limited number of circular well-drilling slots (3) is converted to provide additional well-drilling locations on the platform (11) while protecting the platform (11) from the hoisting and lowering loads normally required to drill deep water wells. The additional well-drilling locations are provided by placing multiple wells in individual slots (3). Load protection is accomplished by transferring such loads to a underwater competent earth formation (15) with a thick-walled shroud (12). The shroud (12) surrounding the multiple wells carries at minimum by a plurality of internal centers through which the wells pass for assuring separation of the multiple wells and transmitting loads to the shroud (12).

    摘要: A guidance system comprising two guide tubes are lowered into a well with a conductor. The guide tubes are connected together by partitions which divide the conductor into two halves. Each partition comprises two symmetrical half sections facing in opposite directions. The operator lowers a string of drill pipe into the conductor to drill a first smaller diameter well at the bottom of the conductor. After drilling to the desired depth, the operator runs a first string of casing down the conductor and through the new well bore. The casing is located on one side of each partition and cemented in place. The operator then lowers the drill pipe down the other side of the partitions and repeats the drilling and casing of a second well.

    摘要: A template and process for drilling and completing multiple wells in a subterranean formation. A template having a plurality of axially extending, divergent bores therethrough is secured to surface or intermediate casing and a like plurality of subterranean wells are drilled through the bores and into the subterranean formation. Each well is separately cased to the well head at the surface and separate production tubing is inserted into each well. Thus, remedial operations can be carded out in one well or fluid injected into a subterranean formation via one well while fluid, such as hydrocarbons, are simultaneously produced from a subterranean formation via the other well(s).
