    摘要： The condition of the ignition coil and capacitor of an internal combustion engine are analyzed by determining the number of zero cross-overs in the ringing of the low coil voltage as well as whether or not the low coil voltage exceeds a threshold magnitude, during the spark period of a disconnected spark plug while the engine is running. In one disclosed embodiment, the cross-overs in the low coil ringing voltage and the times that the threshold is exceeded are counted over a moderate number (such as 16) of revolutions of the distributor and then the average number of ringing cross-overs is combined with the approximate percent of time that the threshold voltage is exceeded during that number of revolutions to present signals indicating that the ignition is normal, the coil has shorted turns or intermittent arc-overs, or that the capacitor is open. In another disclosed embodiment the cross-overs are quantized in a monostable multivibrator and integrator, to provide analog indications of the number of cross-overs to permit transferance thereof through an analog multiplexer and analog to digital converter to a digital processor for analysis in a desired fashion.

    摘要： A starting impulse generated when the crank shaft of an engine passes a specific point and starts a counter that counts impulses for one revolution. During the same revolution, another signal corresponding to a specific engine event starts another counter that continues until the end of the same revolution. A computing circuit uses data from the counters to determine engine speed and the angle at which the engine event occurs and presents this information as a numerical readout. A mark signal may be generated as a cursor for cathode ray tube display of ignition or other engine waveforms. The cursor can be moved to any point along the waveform by a manual control, and the angle at whatever point is selected will be presented in the numerical readout.

    摘要： A distributorless ignition adapter for diagnostic oscilloscopes which an interface box, an oscilloscope connection cord and several inductive pick ups. The oscilloscope connection cord has a first end connected to the interface box and a second end terminating in an oscilloscope plug. The several inductive pick ups are connected to the interface box, whereby passage of electrical current through ignition coils is sensed and data relating to properties of the electrical current is transmitted to an oscilloscope via the interface box and the oscilloscope connection cord. Preferably, each of the several inductive pick ups is sufficiently flexible to wrap around an ignition coil. This enables the inductive pick ups to be adapted to different sizes of ignition coil. Preferably, each of the several inductive pick ups is detachably secured to the interface box. This enables a technician to alter the number of inductive pick ups to correspond with the number of ignition coils for a particular model of engine.

A voltage generated in the ignition coil is measured while the inspection object is housed in the inspection housing. Electrical discharge does not occur because the ground electrode is not provided.     摘要： An engine analyzer having a dual-trace digital oscilloscope display provides a discrete waveform plot area for each trace and displays in each plot area a cursor array which may selectively include one or two vertical-line cursors which can be selectively moved one at a time horizontally along the plot area. The movements of the two cursor arrays can selectively be either synchronized or unsynchronized. The scope provides alphanumeric indications of the position of each cursor, the waveform value at the point where each cursor intersects the waveform. When two cursors are displayed on a trace the scope provides alphanumeric indications of the distance between the cursors and the difference between the waveform values at the points where the cursors intersect the waveform.
