    摘要: A reversible valve ball assembly for use in a down-hole pump oil field check valve. The reversible valve ball can be removed, inverted and reinserted into the check valve to provide a new valve ball sealing surface. The reversal of the valve ball is performed after the original valve ball sealing surface has worn and deteriorated so that it can no longer seat properly to form a seal between the valve ball surface and a valve seat. The valve seat is also reversible. A set of irregularly shaped valve ball guide arms are provided which rotate within valve guide apertures to provide a cleaning action between the valve guide apertures and valve ball arms to prevent accumulation of debris which tends to immobilize the reciprocating valve ball. An elongated gas-breaker fin is provided and can be used to prevent gas lock. The gas-breaker fin enables a reduced vertical length for the valve ball arms so that a reversible symmetric valve ball assembly can be utilized. The gas-breaker fin enables manufacture of a pump using closer valve spacing thereby reducing the compression chamber volume and increasing the compression in the pump chamber, to reduce gas lock and increase durability of the apparatus.

    摘要: A check valve connectable in a refrigerant line is economically fabricated from only three parts--(1) a copper tubing body connectable in the refrigerant line, (2) a nonmetallic shutoff ball, and (3) an annular valve seat member having a conically tapered seating surface on one of its ends. The seat member is coaxially received within a first end of a longitudinally central portion of the tubing positioned between spun-down opposite end portions thereof, with the seating surface end of the seat member facing the second end of the central tubing portion, and the ball being received in the central tubing portion for axial movement into and out of sealing engagement with the seating surface. Three circumferentially spaced, axially elongated side wall indentations are formed in the central tubing portion. The indentations have (1) first end portions which, with the first end of the central tubing portion, axially locks the seat member within the central tubing portion, (2) second end portions that combinatively form an axial stop for the ball, and (3) main body portions that combinatively form within the central tubing portion a track structure that axially guides the ball between its closed position against the seating surface and its open position against the axial stop. When the ball is in its open position against the axial stop, refrigerant flows through the interior of the valve seating member and then around the ball via circumferentially spaced, axially extending fluid bypass passages positioned between the tubing side wall indentations.

    摘要: A check valve connectable in a refrigerant line is economically fabricated from only four parts--(1) a copper tubing body connectable in the refrigerant line, (2) a nonmetallic shutoff ball, (3) an annular valve seat member having a diametrically opposite pair of leg portions axially projecting from one end thereof, and (4) an annular stop member also having a diametrically opposite pair of leg portions axially projecting from one end thereof, and further having a diametrically opposite pair of axially extending outer side surface grooves formed therein. The seat and stop members are locked together to form a cage structure by axially press-fitting the valve seat member outer leg ends into the stop member grooves in a manner such that the stop member legs underlie and support the seat member legs, with outer ends of the stop member legs facing a conical seating surface of the seat member in an axially spaced relationship therewith. The shutoff ball is captively retained laterally between the seat member legs for axial movement within the cage structure between an open position in which the ball seals against the seating surface, and an open position in which the ball is axially moved away from the seating surface and is stopped by the outer ends of the stop member legs. The cage is coaxially and captively retained in a longitudinally central portion of the copper tubing body between two elongated, spun-down, reduced diameter end portions thereof that may be soldered into a refrigerant line.

    摘要: The travelling check valve of the pump is adapted to be automatically opened at the bottom of the down stroke, so that gasses trapped between the travelling and standing check valves may escape and eliminate gas locking. The valve member of the travelling check valve is provided with a downwardly extending, axial stem. The barrel carries a stationary pin extending transversely across its bore just above the standing check valve. The pump piston, carrying the travelling check valve, brings the stem into contact with the pin as the piston reaches the bottom of its down stroke. This causes the valve member to temporarily unseat until the piston commences the up stroke.

    摘要: A high pressure check valve assembly includes a ceramic cage loosely fitted into the bore of a body so as to leave at least a partial clearance between the cage and the body. A passage through the cage includes a retaining section adjacent a fluid inlet end for loosely containing a ball and an irregular cross-section adjacent the retaining section so as to obstruct the ball without hindering fluid flow forwardly through the passage. The cage further has a lateral bleed hole between the passage and the clearance to equalize fluid pressure. An outlet-end sealing member is press fitted into the bore against the outlet end of the cage. An oversized resilient washer-shaped inlet-end sealing member is press fitted into the bore against the inlet end of the cage to seal and retain the assembly. This member has a central aperture with a washer shaped seat member fitted therein, the seat member functioning with the ball as the check valve.

The insert is formed of a material having a hardness greater than the hardness of the material from which the cylindrical body is formed and the material from which the valve ball is formed is characterized by a high resiliency, a modulus of elasticity of between 0.1.times.10.sup.6 psi to 15.times.10.sup.6 psi and a hardness greater than that of the hollow cylindrical body.

A valve housing comprises a first vertically disposed cylindrical section and a second section which extends diagonally upwardly and away from the first section. A third housing section extends away from the second section at a lesser horizontal angle. When a fluid is caused to flow upward through the first housing section, the ball moves out of the first section, along the second section, and is held in an unstable condition in and on the third valve section. When fluid flow halts and pressure against the ball ceases, the ball rolls out of the third section, back down the second section, and into sealing engagement with the first section.
