Abstract:
A network of devices with remote control includes a network interconnecting two or more networked devices and a wireless remote control unit for communicating with one or more of the networked devices. The remote control unit stores an interface for one or more of the networked devices so that the networked devices can be controlled with the remote control unit.
Abstract:
A remote controller (100) and a system and method for remotely controlling a digital TV are disclosed. A memory card (110) is mounted in the remote controller (100), and the remote controller (100) receives video or audio data inputted from the memory card (110) and transmits the received data to a TV body (300). The remote controller (100) receives the video or audio data from the memory card (110) modulates the received data into a wireless signal and transmits the modulated wireless signal, and the TV body (300) receives the wireless signal transmitted from the remote controller (100), demodulates the received wireless signal into the video or audio data and reproduces the demodulated video or audio data. Therefore, the user can remotely control the TV body (300) without personally inserting the memory card (110) into the TV body (300). As a result, the user does not need to move to a place where the TV body (300) is located resulting in convenience in use.

Abstract:
A memory device removably insertable into or otherwise removably connected to a plurality of host devices includes a first memory storing multimedia data. A first circuit portion of the memory device determines the host device capabilities when the memory device is connected to a host device and a second circuit portion feeds the multimedia data to the host device in a format compatible with the determined capabilities of the host device.
Abstract:
The user interaction system comprises a portable pointing device (101) connected to a camera (102) and sending pictures to a digital signal processor (120), capable of recognizing an object (130) and a command given by the user (100) by moving the pointing device (101) in a specific way, and controlling an electrical apparatus (110) on the basis of this recognition. (Characteristic) pattern generation means (116) can be included in the system for facilitating object recognition.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for a remote control device. Means for detecting orientation of the remote control device couples to a processor. The processor changes a mode of operation of the remote control device in response to a change in the orientation.
Abstract:
A universal remote control device is presented. The universal remote control device includes a mechanism for communicating with a host device that includes a video display, an audio output, and a microprocessor. The universal remote control device further includes a media slot configured to receive a removable memory device. The removable memory device includes an entertainment application and a script file or command file. The entertainment application includes primary data that includes at least one media file. The script file or command file is readable or executable by the remote control device or the host device upon insertion of the memory device into the media slot or upon activating the remote control device or the host device after the memory device is inserted in the media slot. The script file or command file includes a request for the host device to display or play the at least one media file.
Abstract:
Actuating a security system includes providing a first set of access codes to a wireless device and causing the wireless device to transmit the first set of access codes to a first controller that actuates the security system. The first set of access codes provided to the wireless device may expire. Actuating a security system may also include providing expiration dates for each of the first set of access codes provided to the wireless device. Actuating a security system may also include examining each of the expiration dates and, in response to a particular expiration date being prior to a current date, erasing from the wireless device a particular one of the first set of access codes that corresponds to the particular expiration date.

Abstract:
A method for transferring information to a remote control includes storing information in a transfer medium, inserting the transfer medium into a remote control that may or may not have already been programmed with information of the same type as that in the transfer medium, inputting the information from the transfer medium, and storing the information from the transfer medium in memory. Another embodiment of the method transfers information between remote controls. A remote control includes a processor, memory, and a transfer medium port. The processor is responsive to a data signal and the port is adapted to receive a transfer medium with information to be transferred to the remote control. The processor stores the information in memory. The remote control may also download information, which is to be transferred to other remote controls, into the transfer medium and the transfer medium may be reused to program additional remote controls.
