摘要:
An apparatus comprises a data receiving module, a synthesizer module and a mix-in sample module. The data receiving module is configured to receive a plurality of Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) data signals. The synthesizer module is configured to analyze the plurality of MIDI data signals to generate a plurality of audio signals corresponding to the MIDI data signals. The synthesizer module includes a mix-in sample module. The mix-in sample module is configured to receive an original sample from a plurality of samples, select a mix-in sample for the original sample, determine a mix-in velocity percentage for the mix-in sample, alter the original sample based on the mix-in velocity percentage to generate an altered original sample and generate an altered audio signal based on the altered original sample and the mix-in velocity percentage.

A synthesizer 10 is configured such that when a PC 30 is connected thereto, the synthesizer 10 accepts selection of a tone used for sound generation from among a tone included in an internal tone generation unit 16 and a tone included in a tone generation module 312 provided by the external PC 30, and causes the PC 30 to enable the function of the tone generation module 312, downloads an edit operation accepting program corresponding to the tone generation module 312 from a UI control program memory 315 of the PC 30, and executes the downloaded edit operation accepting program to thereby realize a function of editing data of the tone included in the tone generation module 312, the data being stored in the PC 30, when the tone included in the tone generation module 312 of the PC 30 is selected.
摘要:
A method for providing multi-region instrument support in an audio player is described. A set of user defined instruments and a set of MIDI data is received. At least one multi-region instrument in the set of user defined instruments is identified. Each region in the multi-region instruments is mapped to a single region instrument with the same parameters as the region. A new instrument number is assigned to each single region instrument. The MIDI data is modified based on the mapping and assigning.

An apparatus and method of controlling note velocity within an electronically controlled player piano in response to the analog characteristics (level, strength, amplitude, etc.) of a received audio signal encoded with a MIDI (or similar) note stream. The invention allows conventional audio playback devices to be utilized as a source for MIDI information which drives the actuation of the keys of the player piano.

摘要:
Method and apparatus utilizing the method for continuous correlation of sound to light and light to sound, and more particularly a method based on a universal equation such that it can be applied to all wavelengths of light and sound seamlessly without any intuition or subjective inputs. Within this method, the entire audible sound spectrum mutually correlates to the entire visible light spectrum. A light and sound correlation apparatus disclosed is an apparatus where the wavelength of light and/or sound is input and the correlating sound and/or light is output. This invention is revealed in a plurality of embodiments for human needs, such as providing an interactive color and sound correlation display apparatus and slide rule, a color MIDI file generating apparatus, a colorized visual orchestration apparatus, an art composer apparatus, spatial information apparatus with color and sound, and a color language apparatus.

A method of converting performance information is carried out by the steps of receiving identification information that identifies an target tone generator different from an available tone generator, reading out first performance information that indicates a music performance in the form of a sequence of tones, and that includes timbre information specifying a timbre of the tones, and changing the timbre information included in the read first performance information based on the received identification information so as to generate second performance information including the changed timbre information adapted to the target tone generator. By such a manner, the available tone generator can process the second performance information to generate the sequence of tones having a timbre as if generated by the target tone generator.

Tone color selecting space is provided, where tone color data are allocated to addressable locations in association with tone color selection information in accordance with a predetermined tone color standard. Into the tone color selecting space can be loaded not only tone color data compliant with the predetermined tone color standard, but also other tone color data, such as those of a standard different from the predetermined tone color standard, loadable externally from an external source. In the tone color selecting space, a dedicated area is set for allocating the externally loaded tone color data. Thus, the externally loaded tone color data can be allocated to the dedicated area and selected in response to tone color selection information designating the dedicated area. If the externally loaded tone color data include specific original tone color selection information, the original tone color selection information may be replaced with the tone color selection information designating the dedicated area such that the tone color data can be selected in response to the original tone color selection information. The externally loaded tone color data may be given priority over the tone color data compliant with the predetermined tone color standard so that the externally loaded tone color data can be allocated to an addressable location in the tone color selecting space with storage location allocation corresponding to the original tone color selection information.

To compress a MIDI format file it is converted to a format 0 file. The format 0 file is then scanned to reduce the number of possible instruments to 16. MIDI commands having no sound output are then eliminated and NoteOn and NoteOff commands are replaced by a PlayNote command. This eliminates instances of &Dgr;time equal to 0. Based on the characteristics of an appliance that has to play the compressed file, the notes are recentered in a bandwidth compatible with the appliance, after which the file is scanned to seek instances of polyphony. If an instance of polyphony exceeds the capacities of the appliance it is reduced in accordance with an instrument priority list and a note pitch.
