Abstract:
An imaging apparatus and an imaging method supply an optimum amount of image data to another apparatus. When a PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps, a mobile phone determines that the maximum speed of communication with the PDA is low, reduces the amount of moving image data captured by a CCD of the mobile phone accordingly, and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA therefore displays a low-quality moving image on its display unit. When the PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbps, the CPU of the mobile phone leaves unchanged the amount of moving picture data captured by the CCD and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA then displays a high-quality moving image on its display unit. The foregoing may be advantageously applied to digital cameras.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus that enables to appropriately perform IP filtering even when communication via a network is performed by a user inputting a destination phone number. An IP filter permits or rejects communication on the basis of a set IP address. An input unit inputs a phone number. An acquisition unit acquires an IP address corresponding to the phone number inputted by the input unit from a server connected to the network. A setting unit sets the IP filter so that communication using the IP address acquired by the acquisition unit is permitted.
Abstract:
An image forming system includes a host device and a terminal device connected to the host device. The host device includes a compressing unit, a code-stream transmitting unit, a control-signal receiving unit and a first controller. The code-stream transmitting unit transmits a code stream generated by the compressing unit. The control-signal receiving unit receives a control signal transmitted by the terminal device. The first controller controls the code-stream transmitting unit according to the received control signal. The terminal device includes a code-stream receiving unit, a decompressing unit, a reproduction-image outputting unit, a second controller and a control signal transmitting unit. The decompressing unit generates reproduction image data from the received code stream. The second controller restricts receiving operation of the code-stream receiving unit according to a predetermined condition. The control-signal transmitting unit transmits the control signal when the second controller restricts the receiving operation of the code-stream receiving unit.

Abstract:
There are provided methods and systems for transferring multimedia content using an existing digital sound transfer protocol. A system for processing multimedia content for transfer over one or more networks includes a transformation device (211) and a reconstruction device (251). The transformation device (211) is for transforming a multimedia file into a sound file for subsequent transfer over the one or more networks using an existing digital sound transfer protocol. The multimedia file represents the multimedia content. The reconstruction device (251) is for reconstructing the multimedia content from the sound file, after the sound file has been transferred.
Abstract:
An MFP can transmit image data read by a scanner by attaching it to E-mail. At the time of transmission, the image data input by the scanner and stored in a work memory is converted into mail data so as to be transmitted by E-mail, and the mail data is stored again into the work memory. The mail data is divided every predetermined reference data size into divided files which are sequentially transmitted as divided mails. When completion of transmission of divided mails corresponding to a unit image is confirmed, the image data and mail data of the unit image are eliminated from the work memory. By sequentially performing such a process, the memory use efficiency can be improved while holding image data of a unit image which has not been transmitted yet.
Abstract:
A method of performing a negotiation session on a modem connection. The method includes receiving a plurality of negotiation signals from the source modem, by a first gateway, forwarding at least some of the received negotiation signals from the first gateway to a second gateway, over a packet based network, receiving, by the first gateway, responses to the forwarded negotiation signals from the second gateway, forwarding the responses from the second gateway to the source modem, by the first gateway, and transmitting from the first gateway to the source modem, response signals to at least some of the received negotiation signals, without receiving a response to the at least some of the signals from the second gateway.
Abstract:
A method of establishing a fax connection on a link which is a portion of a composite connection. The method includes transmitting at least some signals of a negotiation procedure on the link and initiating a retrain on the connection, without identifying a problem on the connection of the link, the retrain being initiated after transmitting the at least some signals of the negotiation procedure but before transmitting data on the data channel of the link due to the negotiation procedure.
Abstract:
During G3FAX communication with an IP network 30, a FAX adapter 10 controls a packet size data storage 100d with the use of a control signal 14, generated by a packet size controller 10e, to adjust the packet size of FAX data sent from a G3FAX 20 according to delay information 12f from the IP network 30. When sending data to the IP network 30, the adapter 10 allows the size of a packet to be adjusted in response to the delay information 12f sent from the IP network 30, thus resolving a discrepancy in transfer speed.
Abstract:
According to the process for transmission of a packet of facsimile data between a first and a second facsimile machine via a transmission network, a process is provided in which the first facsimile machine transmits the data intended for the second facsimile machine and repeats its transmission in the absence of a response within a predetermined period (T). The packet of the first facsimile machine and its moment of transmission are input. The packet is transmitted to the second facsimile machine, a response from the second facsimile machine and the corresponding moment of reception are input, and the interval of time between this moment of reception and the expiry of the period (T) are determined. If the interval of time is greater than a threshold (P), the response of the second facsimile machine is retransmitted to the first facsimile machine. If it is not greater, the response is blocked.
