摘要： Console air conditioning units particularly useful for retrofit conversions, but having advantageous features for new installations as well. For retrofit applications, the console air conditioning units have the same "footprint" as an original package unit, and accordingly can be used to replace a worn-out console package unit without requiring any architectural changes. An indoor cabinet is subdivided at least into a plenum compartment having an air discharge opening and either a machinery compartment or a room air return compartment. The machinery compartment or room air return compartment occupies only a portion of the width of the cabinet, and a utility storage volume occupies an adjacent portion of the width. Preferably the plenum compartment is located in an upper portion of the cabinet above the machinery compartment or room air return compartment, and extends substantially the entire width of the cabinet along a wall. The machinery compartment may contain either a water-source heat pump or a simple fan/coil unit. The fan/coil unit may comprise a blower and a refrigeration system heat exchanger, or a blower and a heat exchanger supplied with chilled or heated fluid such as water. Alternatively an outdoor package unit may be located on the opposite side of the wall of the building and connected so as to draw in room return air via the room air return compartment and to discharge conditioned air via the plenum compartment.

摘要： An insert is provided for selectively filling a utility access opening in furniture where the access opening is formed in a panel in the furniture, but where the panel has a thickness that may be one of two different dimensions. The insert includes a sleeve having a stop for engaging a first surface on the panel, short retainers configured to frictionally engage an opposing surface in opposition to the stop when the panel defines a first relatively thin dimension, and long retainers configured to frictionally engage the opposing surface in opposition to the stop when the panel defines a second relatively thick dimension. A port mateably frictionally engages the insert to close the sleeve. The port is frictionally held in the sleeve by detents, and engages the retainers to hold them securely in engagement with the panel. The short retainers can be broken off so that they do not interfere with positioning the port into the sleeve when the sleeve is engaged with a relatively thick panel. A method includes breaking off the short retainers and engaging the insert with the relatively thick panel, and thereafter inserting the port into the sleeve.

摘要： A vertical computer mainframe includes a front panel, a shell, a casing and diskdrive racks, etc. The diskdrive racks include an upper rack and a lower rack. The upper rack is mounted at the front end and inside the casing, and the lower rack has one side near the master board, bent into a stepped wall, defining a big chamber and a small chamber of different sizes. The lower rack may be molded from plastic as an integral part. A sliding hard diskdrive may slide into and out of the big chamber. Alternatively, the lower rack may be molded from metal as an integral part, wherein a shell is disposed in the wider chamber and the inner width of the shell is equal to the outer width of the sliding hard diskdrive. In this manner, a large amount of interior space within the computer mainframe is provided for mounting other parts or devices.

摘要： The present invention comprises a computer system housing embodying the invention incorporates a frame upon which the components of the computer system are mounted. The frame has a base, a main unit secured to the frame, and a front compartment, for mounting mass storage unit therein, swingably positioned on the main unit. A housing adapted for supporting a central processor unit and a power supply of the computer system is removable disposed in the main unit. The frame and the housing are provided with all pneumatic connections so that air for cooling various components of the computer system may be brought over such components by the action of a fan mounted on the base. Thus, internally generated heat in such components can be readily dissipated by the air flow over such components. The frame and the housing are adapted so that the components of the computer system positioned therein are accessible with relative ease so that they are installed, replaced, and repaired easily.
