摘要： A mobile cart that holds a bag for receiving solid waste generated during a medical or surgical procedure. The cart includes a sensor that monitors whether or not an object containing metal is placed in the bag. A processor monitors the signal output by the sensor. If the sensor signal indicates that an object with a minimal amount of metal is placed in the bag, the processor momentarily asserts an audible alarm and continuously asserts a light alarm. The light alarm remains asserted until turned off. If, while the light alarm is on, the sensor signal indicates a second object with the minimal amount of waste is placed in the container, the processor again momentarily asserts the audible alarm. This provides notice that it may be necessary to investigate the contents of the bag to determine if not one but two or more objects were inadvertently discarded.

摘要： A surgical system comprising a surgical instrument, a motorized system, and a control system is disclosed. The surgical instrument comprises an end effector comprising a first jaw and a second jaw movable relative to the first jaw. The surgical instrument further comprises a threaded drive shaft, a firing member drivable by the threaded drive shaft, and a closure system configured to move the second jaw. The motorized system is configured to drive the threaded drive shaft and the closure system. The control system comprises a closure circuit configured to actuate the motorized system to move the second jaw toward a closed position, a firing circuit configured to actuate the motorized system to move the firing member toward a fired position, and an input interface configured to receive inputs from a user. The firing circuit is prevented from being actuated until the second jaw has been placed in the closed position.

The second jaw is moved to the closed position during the closure stroke and the firing member is further configured to eject staples from the staple cartridge during a firing stroke. The manual bailout is configured to retract the firing member through a retraction stroke. The electric motor is configured to drive the firing member. The control unit is configured to monitor a parameter of the electric motor and control the amount of current supplied to the electric motor based on the parameter.

The operations may comprise capturing an image of the at least one surgical needle after at least one of the at least one surgical needle has exited the surgical field. The operations may include analyzing the image to determine a final quantity of the at least one surgical needle after exiting the surgical field. The operations may incorporate determining whether the initial quantity equals the final quantity.
